On this day, Lee Ji-young drew attention by revealing an episode while discussing the theme "I need to earn for us to live," asking, "Did you buy land without telling me?"
She opened up, saying, "As I mentioned last time on Dongchimi, my husband has left his job and is taking care of the children since I had a baby. I dislike seeing him feel humiliated and losing his pride. So, I give him some cash and a few cards, which isn't a lot, but I provide him with a small monthly maintenance amount. For him, he spends what he needs and saves the rest."
She continued, "So, I seem to be giving him an emergency fund, but my husband was a sports enthusiast before we married. He enjoys various active sports, particularly motorcycle riding. They say they refer to it as 'bikes.' He has a strong desire for motorcycle gear, including clothing. I was unaware of how much he had until we moved to a smaller house last year and had to reduce our belongings. When I opened the closet, motorcycle gear poured out."
Lee Ji-young noted, "My husband believes that all sports should be done bare-handed and only thinks of gear and clothing as sports. Recently, I found a large immigration bag that I hadn't seen before. Instinctively, I thought he had bought something again and asked him about it. He mentioned that he might be going to a ski resort soon with friends and couldn't wear just anything since he learned in Sapporo, so he bought new trendy ski gear and stored it away. I wouldn't notice this when I was earning well and had plenty, but these days the economy is bad, dental revenues have dropped significantly, and managing finances is tough, especially since I started a probiotic business that keeps costing me money."
In particular, she revealed, "What this man has hidden isn't just things. A huge slush fund incident is happening involving land. It's shocking to find out. One day, when I checked the mailbox, I found a debt collection notice addressed to my husband. I value bank credit really highly; I never thought I would see debt collection in my life, but it was under my husband's name. I wondered what it was and found out he had bought land in Hongcheon for 120 million won with a loan, but he couldn't make some payments to extend it, so it was going to auction."
She continued, "The amount was 20 million won. I asked my husband, and it was time to extend the loan. He needed 20 million won but didn't have any way to prepare it, and he has a huge pride. He can't tell me about needing a large amount. He thought about letting it go to auction. I found it astonishing that he would let this go. So, I made a fuss and said I would lend him 20 million won, and he could pay me back later or give me some money from selling the land. I lent him 20 million won. Thankfully, after two years, the land was sold, and I got my 20 million won back."
Lee Ji-young stated, "I didn't ask for how much it was sold. I only needed 20 million won. So, while the emergency fund can be a source of joy for him, since I keep watching over it, it can't be good. So, I have to say something to my husband," adding, "Honey, using the emergency fund is fine, but if you keep making mistakes like this, the maintenance budget could be cut, so I hope you will be careful."
