Lee Su-ji expressed her first position and feelings regarding the parody video titled 'Daechi Mom,' which is suspected of targeting Han Ga-in.
On the broadcast of KBS Cool FM's 'Oh My Girl Hyojeong's Raise the Volume' on the 5th, Lee Su-ji appeared in the 'Can't Stand It' corner, reading various listeners' stories and empathizing with them.
While serving as the DJ of 'Kayo Plaza' and having a connection with KBS Radio, Lee Su-ji commented, "I should be nervous, but it feels like I'm at home, so I don't feel nervous. Also, the PD of 'Raise the Volume' is the same person who was the PD when I was the DJ of 'Kayo Plaza.' That person is the same now as back then, but I feel like I've grown and it's seriously wrong."
Currently, Lee Su-ji is drawing much attention with her YouTube channel 'Hot Issue Ji.' With nearly 600,000 subscribers, Lee Su-ji noted, "When I first started the channel, I thought it would be okay to have about 10,000 to 20,000 after three months. I started like that, and the response has been so good compared to the beginning that I want to stay humble and not get too buoyant."
Regarding her pledge to reach 1 million subscribers, she said, "If it takes about six months, that would be around August, which is the time to wear swimsuits, so I was thinking, how about wearing a bikini and doing a Shubly Mom?" Listeners mentioned pledges such as fan meetings and interviews with factory supervisors, to which Lee Su-ji replied, "I will think about it," leaving room for possibilities.
Lee Su-ji stated about the characters covered in 'Hot Issue Ji,' "I put the same effort into each character," adding, "When doing the 'Daechi Mom' character, I suggested that we remember it as a memory on the upload day, but the response was overwhelming. I feel regret that it's not going as I intended due to the burden and misunderstandings."
This is the first time Lee Su-ji has publicly expressed her stance on the 'Daechi Mom' parody video. Earlier, she had faced allegations that the 'Daechi Mom' parody video targeted actress Han Ga-in, and at that time, she evaded the response by stating to OSEN, "Please contact my agency or manager." However, her agency also avoided giving a response, stating, "Since the channel is personally run by Lee Su-ji, our agency does not get involved. If it were produced within the agency, it would be different, but we don't know anything about what's being filmed, so we do not have anything to say."
The video made public by Lee Su-ji through 'Hot Issue Ji' features her transformation into a so-called 'Jamie' mom, Lee So-dam, a parent in the Daechi-dong academy district in Gangnam, showcasing her in luxury padding and a designer bag commonly referred to as the Gangnam mom uniform, while helping her child with their academy rides.
After the video was released, there was a strong reaction saying it depicted a commonly seen image of mothers in Gangnam, but it also became controversial as it was suspected of targeting actress Han Ga-in, who previously released a video of her child's academy rides.
Han Ga-in, who appeared on shows like 'You Quiz on the Block,' clarified the 'overzealous mom' controversy, saying, "Other mothers think I push my kids a lot in their studies, but that's absolutely not the case. They are not the type to be pushed to study. I realized what I like only after turning 40. I didn't have the opportunity to try anything as a child," adding, "I hope my kids realize soon that there's nothing better than enjoying what they love, and I wish they would gain various experiences and quickly catch onto what they enjoy."
As Lee Su-ji, who had been avoiding responses and remained silent, finally expresses her position on the 'Daechi Mom' parody video, attention is drawn to whether the controversy will subside.
Meanwhile, Han Ga-in, who has been caught in the crossfire, recently met laughter therapist Oh Haeng-ja through YouTube and received laughter therapy. Despite her low blood pressure, she burst into hearty laughter to relieve her stress.
