Actress Nam Bora revealed the story of how she welcomed a new family member.
On the 5th, a video titled "Did K's daughter Nam Bora gain a new family through ESG?" was uploaded to the 'Green Talk' channel.
That day, actress Nam Bora appeared as a guest on 'Bold 2' and shared the process of adopting her new family member. He, who has shown interest in donations and volunteering, noted when asked, "What triggered your interest in social contribution activities?" that "it seems to be in my nature."
Nam Bora said, "I'm not boasting, but we didn't grow up in abundance. Tofu for soybean paste stew was precious. My siblings wanted to eat it too, so I ended up giving it up bit by bit until I no longer ate it. It seems like the DNA of giving up for my siblings has been printed in me since childhood. That later manifests as volunteering when my siblings grow up. That's what I think." She added, "Now that my siblings have grown up, they hardly need me. But in society, that trait still remains — the sister moment."
Especially, he appeared with dogs that were rescued and adopted from a breeding facility in Hwaseong. He said, "There was shocking news in September 2023 about an incident at a breeding facility in Hwaseong. Over 1,000 dogs were rescued, and these friends were there with my dog Mertul. I adopted Mertul in September of the year before last, and these friends share the same origin as Mertul." He expressed amazement, saying, "I didn't recognize them. They changed so much from their shelter appearance. Their looks are remarkable. They've become so beautiful."
When asked about the incident, Nam Bora said, "There was someone conducting breeding in Hwaseong. Initially, it wasn't an illegal breeding facility. It was a breeding facility that was lawfully registered, but they didn't care for the animals with love; they only saw them as a means of making money. Instead of natural breeding, they overdosed them with drugs for breeding, and a bigger problem was the excessive cesarean sections. Cesarean sections were performed ruthlessly without a specialist. Some had their bellies stitched with silk thread, and there were too many dead puppies. Our Mertul also has severe gum deterioration, so he doesn't have teeth yet. He has only four teeth now. His health has been very poor because of this."
He continued, "When considering adoption, I pondered the most about whether our personalities would match. It's similar to marriage. Don't we go on many blind dates before getting married? I thought Mertul was so pretty, but what if I brought him home only for me to like him? What if it ended as unrequited love? I considered the personalities a lot. Will it suit me? I realized I'm a quieter type than I expected. If a very lively dog comes, I thought it would be difficult for me. So, I went back and forth to the shelter many times to observe Mertul's personality and thought about how to prepare for him."
"You shouldn't adopt with your eyes but with your heart, so the dog also has to like me. There's chemistry. You need to check the chemistry," he emphasized. He added, "Many people who often ask how to volunteer don't know it. The easiest type of volunteering is walking service. It involves only walking. The most frequent volunteer work I've done is cleaning cages and feeding. Since there are too many dogs, feeding them is also a task. It's simple and easy, so I want to encourage people to start with something straightforward."
