Comedian Kim Do-young has immigrated to the Philippines.
On the 5th, Kim Do-young shared the news via his personal SNS, "This evening, I am leaving South Korea with my family to begin our life in a foreign country. I hope you will support me as I start the second act of my life that I have dreamed of for a long time. I will ensure that my family and I live happily. I wish you all constant happiness and health."
He added, "I wanted to escape the rapidly changing broadcasting environment and the overwhelming flood of quickly used content and try to live a bit slower and more leisurely in a hot summer country without the promise of returning." He continued, "I have gradually and steadily prepared for this dream life, and finally today, I am leaving."
Kim Do-young debuted as a comedian in 2006 as part of the 15th class of Korea's MBC public recruitment and became known through MBC's 'Gagya.' He later transferred to tvN's 'Comedy Big League,' gaining popularity for his solid acting skills. However, he has executed his long-prepared immigration and moved to Cebu, Philippines, with his family.
The following is the complete text left by Kim Do-young.
Hello, this is Kim Do-young.
Some of you may already know, while others may not, but this evening, I am leaving South Korea with my family to begin our life in a foreign country. I hope you will support me as I start the second act of my life that I have dreamed of for a long time. I will ensure that my family and I live happily. I wish you all constant happiness and health.
As I reflect on my life in broadcasting, which has reached 20 years this year,
I wanted to escape the rapidly changing broadcasting environment and the overwhelming flood of quickly used content and try to live a bit slower and more leisurely in a hot summer country.
Regarding where I am immigrating, I have already hinted about it on my Instagram ID for the past seven years. You may have been surprised by this sudden news, but I have gradually and steadily prepared for this dream life and finally today, I am leaving.
People are asking whether I am retiring or giving up being a comedian,
My answer is challenge.
As soon as I arrive, I will engage in various activities, including documenting my local adaptation experiences on YouTube and in the travel business, showcasing my abilities.
Just because I am leaving Korea does not mean I will stop being a comedian.
Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to my family for supporting and encouraging my difficult decision. As long as I am alive, I will live for my family.
