Taiwanese actor Wang Dalu shocked fans both domestically and internationally with allegations of attempted murder following allegations of evading military service.
On the 4th, multiple foreign media outlets, including TVBS, reported that Wang Dalu was arrested at his home by police on attempted murder charges. According to reports, he called a vehicle for pickup at the airport through an app but became dissatisfied with the poor condition of the car, leading to a confrontation with the driver and even mobilizing resources to assault the dispatcher.
Not only did he beat the two individuals, but Wang Dalu is also believed to have filmed the assault. This fact was revealed when police confiscated Wang Dalu's phone during the investigation into the military evasion allegations and found additional evidence. Wang Dalu's friend implicated in this violence incident is the second-generation chaebol, Liu Xiangmin.
Wang Dalu was arrested by police on the 18th of last month for the allegations of evading military service and was investigated. He paid 1 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately 44 million won) to a professional organization to avoid military service and pretended to have heart disease, deceiving a doctor to obtain a false medical certificate.
After that, he was released after paying bail of 150,000 yuan (approximately 30 million won). He is set to enter the National Army training center at Qinggongling (成功嶺) in Taichung, Taiwan, on the 13th, undergo military training for 21 days, and then serve for one year under the alternative service program (Taiwan's alternative service system).
Because of this, Wang Dalu used a ride-sharing system to return to Taiwan, but got entangled in an assault incident and now faces charges of attempted murder. Many fans, both in Taiwan and domestically, are greatly disappointed and have voiced their criticism.
Meanwhile, Wang Dalu debuted as an actor in the 2008 drama "The Fierce MIT" and lived in obscurity for about seven years until the 2015 film "Our Times" became a huge hit, propelling him to stardom. He later appeared in "28 Years Old Minors," "Heroes of the East 4," and "It Started With a Kiss."
Notably, in March 2019, he visited Korea to meet fans in celebration of the film "It Started With a Kiss." However, at that time, Korea was in a chaotic situation due to the "Burning Sun Gate" incident involving Seungri, Jung Joon-young, Choi Jong-hoon, and actor Park Han-byul's husband Yoo In-seok. There were controversies surrounding illegal filming and distribution, drug use, and sexual services, and Wang Dalu also drew attention when he was spotted with Seungri at the club in January of that year.
Perhaps because of this, Wang Dalu abruptly canceled a press conference upon his arrival for "It Started With a Kiss," leading to controversy. There were suspicions that he canceled the press conference to avoid questions related to Seungri.
