Recently, Hwang Jung-eum's dwelling, purchased in May 2020, has attracted attention due to a significant price increase in just 4 to 5 years. At that time, Hwang Jung-eum bought a dwelling located in Itaewon, Yongsan, Seoul, for about 4.6 billion won. According to real estate officials, the dwelling has a scale of one basement and two above-ground floors (land area of 347㎡, total floor area of 200㎡), and it was traded at about 44.3 million won per pyeong (3.3㎡). Considering that nearby dwellings are priced between 70 million and 80 million won per pyeong, the capital gains from the sale are expected to exceed 3 billion won.
Among them, Hwang Jung-eum's dwelling stood out with unique finishes that are rare for a family house and a distinctive bathroom structure, called the 'Jung-eum House.'
However, the second floor was completely empty. Ultimately, the unconventional concrete interior, including a rarely seen bathroom and sink in a family house, caught attention. Hwang Jung-eum noted, "This was originally an office; I didn't prepare a living place. Since my ex-husband got our newlywed home, I didn't expect to get divorced, and it happened so suddenly..." referring to the situation of remodeling the dwelling into an office.
Hwang Jung-eum said, "I suddenly needed a house, and fortunately, a tenant was leaving just in time, so I'm living in the office." She added, "I hurried to create a kitchen and redo the flooring," conveying the urgency of her living situation, and mentioned, "I'm living roughly as things come," showcasing her flexibility to adapt to reality.
Especially, revealing her luxury supercar, Hwang Jung-eum stated, "After my divorce, when I saw myself in the mirror at the bathhouse, I felt so sorry for myself. I needed a gift for myself after the divorce." She added, "I want to live a happy life with my son, riding in a nice car. I wanted to escape my unhappy self, so I gifted myself a wonderful car that fits that desire."
Regarding her spending habits, Hwang Jung-eum remarked, "I spend more than what I've saved; I use the money I earn." She explained, "If I create a vicious cycle, it becomes motivation and driving force, compelling me to earn," referencing the reason behind her luxury car purchase, and stated, "I've never regretted buying that car. Driving a good car makes me feel great."
Hwang Jung-eum married businessman Lee Young-don, a former professional golfer, in 2016 and has two sons. After experiencing a marital crisis and reconciling, she initiated divorce proceedings again last February.
