'The Potato Laboratory' has proven the value of a delightful and uplifting healing comic romance.
The tvN weekend drama 'The Potato Laboratory' (directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun, written by Kim Ho-soo, planned by CJ ENM Studios, produced by Chorokbaem Media) offers laughter fresher than new potatoes and warmth warmer than boiled potatoes, drawing viewer response. The quick-paced narrative captivated audiences in just two episodes, starting from the antagonistic first meeting of Kim Mi-kyung (played by Lee Sun-bin), who has a lot of 'fire' in her fortune, and So Baek-ho (played by Kang Tae-oh), likened to a 'cold iced Americano,' leading to a thrilling drunk kiss ending.
Meanwhile, the revealed behind-the-scenes cuts provide delightful laughter with the cheerful chemistry of the potato family. Lee Sun-bin showcased her talent by vibrantly depicting the carefree and unpredictable 'Kim Mi-kyung.' Kang Tae-oh's transformation into the lovable principled 'So Baek-ho,' characterized by his charming clumsiness, also received praise. The 'sexy manager' So Baek-ho created by Kang Tae-oh captivates not only Kim Mi-kyung but also viewers, significantly raising the excitement.
As director Kang Il-soo praised, "The difference between the two actors, who have completely different colors, created a natural chemistry. The teasing and nuanced emotional lines are expected to provide more excitement than anticipated," Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh's synergy, which completes the teasing yet thrilling 'some & fighting' chemistry, was perfect. During the filming breaks, the seamless interaction between Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh radiated the chemistry. Unreleased cuts of the surprise kissing ending, which sparked conversation, are also captured, adding to the excitement.
Lee Hak-joo, Kim Ga-eun, and Shin Hyun-seung's performances, which completed the diverse relationships with Lee Sun-bin, also offered delightful laughter. Lee Hak-joo added tension by playing 'Kim Mi-kyung's ex-boyfriend' and the powerful figure of Wonhan Retail, Park Gi-se. Kim Ga-eun charmingly depicted the lively draws of the romance geek 'Lee Yong-joo,' who predicted the 'some' between Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho first. Shin Hyun-seung, portraying 'Kim Mi-kyung's younger brother,' showcased perfect chemistry with Lee Sun-bin and Kim Ga-eun, making viewers smile. Additionally, the flawless character play of 'Potato Family' members Yoo Seung-mok, Kwak Ja-hyung, Woo Jeong-won, Yoon Jeong-seop, Nam Hyun-woo, and Kim Ji-a added vitality.
The production team of 'The Potato Laboratory' noted, "In episodes 3 and 4, airing this week, the process in which Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho seep into each other will be depicted. After the drunken kiss, what changes will come to Kim Mi-kyung and So Baek-ho? Please look forward to it," they added, "So Baek-ho's plan, which is crucial for the future of 'The Potato Laboratory,' will also be thrilling."
Episode 3 of 'The Potato Laboratory' will air on the 8th (Saturday) at 9:20 p.m.
