IU mentioned the casting process for 'A Perfectly Deceived.'
On the morning of the 5th, a press conference for the Netflix original series 'A Perfectly Deceived' was held at the Grand Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Won-seok and lead actors IU, Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-joon attended the event.
'A Perfectly Deceived' tells the story of the adventurous life of Ae-sun (played by IU), a 'rebellious troublemaker' born in Jeju in the 1960s, and Gwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum), described as 'clumsy but strong.' The series is expected with great anticipation, created by writer Im Sang-chun, known for heartwarming stories like 'When the Camellia Blooms' and 'Fight for My Way,' and director Kim Won-seok, who has conveyed empathy and comfort through works like 'The Man from Nowhere,' 'Signal,' and 'Misaeng.' Approximately 600 billion won has been invested in the production, featuring a stellar cast of IU, Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-joon that aims to resonate deeply across generations.
IU portrays Ae-sun from her teenage years to her twenties, with Moon So-ri taking over the role as an adult. Notably, IU also plays Moon So-ri's character's daughter, showcasing her ability to take on two roles. Gwan-sik's character is portrayed by Park Bo-gum in childhood and by Park Hae-joon in middle age.
IU recalled, "This is my second project with director Kim Won-seok after 'The Man from Nowhere', and I have always been a huge fan of writer Im Sang-chun. As soon as I received the offer, I wanted to do it so badly. I became anxious to do it even before reading the script. After reading it, I couldn't contain my excitement and wanted to do it immediately. I told them I wanted to be involved the day after I read the script."
Park Bo-gum also said, "I filmed this project after completing military service. I really like director Kim Won-seok's filming style; he is very meticulous. I wanted to work with him. The four seasons depicted in Ae-sun and Gwan-sik's story are beautiful and lingered in my mind. When I watch it with my family in the future, I can confidently say that it was a good decision. I think the fans will also enjoy it, so I chose to participate."
Meanwhile, 'A Perfectly Deceived' will premiere on March 7 and consists of a total of 16 episodes, releasing four episodes every Friday over four weeks.
