The Korea Communications Standards Commission has decided to issue a legal sanction of 'warning' against JIBS TV's 'JIBS 8 News' for broadcasting unnatural content suspected of being aired under the influence of alcohol.
On the 4th, the Korea Communications Standards Commission held a plenary meeting and decided to issue a legal sanction of warning against JIBS TV's 'JIBS 8 News' for broadcasting unnatural content suspected of being aired under the influence of alcohol, such as the anchor consistently mispronouncing words.
JIBS stated through a written opinion that "the anchor acknowledged the fact that they were a substitute anchor after taking cold medicine following a drink. The producer thought it was strange after the news started and immediately stopped the broadcast, and later issued an apology broadcast."
Additionally, JIBS explained that the anchor has been suspended for three months and has been excluded from news production for one year, and a warning has been issued to the head of the planning and reporting team.
In response, the Korea Communications Standards Commission noted, "There was no timeliness to the follow-up measures. This is a broadcasting accident that may happen once every few decades, and broadcasting under the influence of alcohol is absolutely unacceptable. Legal sanctions are inevitable."
Meanwhile, the Korea Communications Standards Commission has decided to seek 'stakeholder opinions' regarding several terrestrial radio programs that used inappropriate broadcasting language. The programs under review include KBS Cool FM's 'Raise the Volume', 'Kiss the Radio' with MONSTA X's IM, SBS Power FM's 'Wendy's Young Street', 'Bae Seung-jae's Ten', 'Dean's Music High', MBC FM4U's 'Yoon Tae-jin's FM Date', and MBC FM4U's 'Kim Ina's Starry Night'.
