Taeyil (real name Moon Taeyil), a former member of the group NCT, has been referred to trial on charges of special rape.
According to Korean Newspaper on the 4th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's Women and Child Crime Investigation Division 1 (Director General Kim Ji-hye) filed charges against Taeyil and two accomplices for special rape under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence on the 28th of last month. They are accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was intoxicated in June of last year.
After receiving a report from the victim, the police applied for arrest warrants for the three suspects, but the court rejected the request, citing that they acknowledged the crime and the necessity for detention was low. Ultimately, the police summoned Taeyil for questioning in August of the same year and transferred the case to the prosecution in September.
Taeyil debuted in 2016 with the NCT unit NCT U and was active as a member of NCT and its sub-group NCT 127. However, he was expelled from NCT after it became known that he was accused in a criminal case related to sexual offenses in August of last year, and in October, he terminated his contract with the agency SM Entertainment.
