Singer Lim Young-woong resumed his activities by publicly posting on social media for the first time after the "what?" controversy.
On the 4th, Lim Young-woong shared several photos on his personal social media account without any notable text, revealing his recent status.
The photos showed Lim Young-woong attending a recent K League match, appearing to enjoy the game with friends while wearing a Daejeon Hana Citizen scarf and unique sunglasses.
Subsequent photos depicted aspects of Lim Young-woong's daily life. He was seen posing in an elevator with his pet dog and visiting an exhibition while traveling in a car, portraying a typical young man.
The attention surrounding this post is due to Lim Young-woong being the first to post on social media since the "what?" controversy. On Dec. 7 of last year, Lim Young-woong became embroiled in controversy with his response of "what?" At that time, while rallies and protests were ongoing calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol regarding the Dec. 3 martial law incident, Lim Young-woong left a post celebrating his pet dog's birthday.
In response, a netizen sent a direct message asking, "What are you doing during this time?" to which Lim Young-woong responded with, "what?" When the netizen pointed out, "People gathered over the impeachment proposal against the president who declared martial law constitutionally, and while I don't expect you to raise your voice, it's truly insensitive. Aren't the age group who experienced the previous martial law your main consumer demographic?" Lim Young-woong replied, "Am I a politician?" and "Why should I voice my opinion?"
It has not been confirmed whether Lim Young-woong sent that direct message, but both he and his agency remained silent, fueling the controversy. While it isn't mandatory for celebrities to reveal their political stance or voice their opinions, many pointed out the disappointment in Lim Young-woong's response, especially given that many stars attended rallies and protests or contributed via preemptive action during that time.
Lim Young-woong held a solo concert, "Lim Young-woong Recital," at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul while remaining tight-lipped about the "what?" controversy. This performance drew criticism as it was carried out during the national mourning period for the Muan Airport passenger plane disaster. In response, Lim Young-woong honored the victims with a moment of silence before the concert.
Meanwhile, Lim Young-woong rose to stardom after debuting in 2016 by taking first place in TV Chosun's "Mr. Trot."
