Playlist, a comprehensive content studio (CEO: Park Tae-won), has released a new BL (Boys' Love) short-form drama titled "Summer Indigo."
"Summer Indigo" is a work that portrays the sports academy romance between Sunwoo (played by Kim Ji-yul), who resolves to leave the judo club due to an unspeakable concern, and Taehyung (played by Lee Ui-seob), who must prevent Sunwoo from leaving.
Sunwoo, the youngest member of the judo club, who has decided to leave due to an unspeakable concern, must defeat a senior according to tradition in order to leave the judo club. However, he becomes frustrated when he randomly gets matched against national representative judo star Gong Taehyung.
Taehyung, who only knows judo, finds himself increasingly attracted to Sunwoo, the youngest member of the judo club, and confides his worries to an anonymous friend named "Summer" that he meets every night through chat. However, when he discovers that "Summer" is actually Sunwoo and that Sunwoo intends to leave the judo club, Taehyung falls into a dilemma.
Kim Ji-yul plays the role of the youngest judo club member Park Sunwoo, Lee Ui-seob plays the national representative judo star Gong Taehyung, and Yoo Seong-yoon plays judo club captain Lee Chang-seok.
This work is a BL genre set against the backdrop of sports, delicately portraying the subtle emotional changes and growth between the two male protagonists.
Playlist noted, "We will break the mold of the existing BL genre and introduce a fresh romance set against a new backdrop of sports."
Consisting of a total of 60 episodes, "Summer Indigo" is set to premiere on March 3 on domestic short channels, Heavenly, Showtime, Japan's Bump, Million, Shortcha, and Global Drama Box, while it will air on Japan's Fani on March 4 and on domestic Beagle on March 6. In addition, it is expected to meet viewers on various platforms worldwide, including Global Lilshot.
Playlist's previous short-form drama "Wanna Play After Divorce?" gained immense popularity both domestically and internationally, becoming a sensation. After its first broadcast on the global platform Lilshot in November 2024, it entered the top tier of the "crimson melodrama" category and has maintained its ranking to date. Notably, on Lilshot, it ranked first in crimson melodrama, first in revenge drama, and eighth in popular rising stars. Domestically, since its release in February 2025, it reached first place on Beagle, first on Showtime, and second on Shortcha, demonstrating the global competitiveness of Korean short-form dramas. Expectations are high for whether "Summer Indigo" can continue this success.
