In 2025, YG is busy. Last year, there was the Seoul encore performance of 2NE1, which reunited for its 15th anniversary, and Blackpink, who was focused on individual activities, has announced a 2025 world tour. The youngest daughter, Baby Monster, will also meet fans in 20 cities for her debut world tour.
On Jan. 17, YG Entertainment announced its decision to end actor management to focus on its music business. YG communicated the conclusion of actor management through an official press release, thanking "all the actors who have been with us and the fans who have shown much love. We will not spare any necessary support until the end."
Accordingly, actors affiliated with YG Entertainment are looking for new companies. YG has seen actors such as Kim Hee-ae, Yoo In-na, Cha Seung-won, as well as Yoo Seung-ho, Lee Sung-kyung, Jung Hye-young, Soo-hyun, Jang Ki-yong, Lee Soo-hyuk, Son Na-eun, Jin Gyeong, Gal So-won, Park So-i, and Joo Woo-jae actively involved.
YG stated that it would focus on its core business of music now that it has concluded actor management. As part of this, YGX has absorbed the global training center, internalizing expertise and capabilities, and expanded the internal producer team from about 10 to over 50 to strengthen the production system.
As a result, YG's activities stood out in 2024. Baby Monster, who officially debuted in April, settled in the market quickly and stably as they conducted a global tour in their first year. They also achieved sales nearing 1.6 million albums in just their debut year, proving once again the moniker of "monster rookie."
Additionally, YG's first girl group, 2NE1, reunited in full for their 15th anniversary. Starting with the Seoul performance, shows in Manila, Jakarta, Kobe, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh City, and Macau saw all tickets sold out. Despite reuniting after eight years of disbandment, they showcased their enduring ticket power.
This excitement continues into 2025. First, 2NE1 has an upcoming performance titled "2025 2NE1 CONCERT [WELCOME BACK] ENCORE IN SEOUL," scheduled for two days from April 12 to 13.
After successfully concluding 25 performances across 12 cities over six months, they will wrap up their Asia tour with a glamorous finale in the Seoul encore performance. The performances, filled with 15 years of experience, drew intense reactions from Asian fans, and 2NE1 will conclude the Asia tour by meeting a total of 220,000 audience members, including the Seoul encore performance.
Blackpink, who drew intense responses with solo activities such as "APT.", "Mantra", "ROCKSTAR", and "earthquake", will start the 2025 world tour in partnership with YG. Starting from Goyang Sports Complex's main stadium on July 5-6, Blackpink will meet fans in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, London, and Tokyo.
In particular, most of the concert venues are stadium-sized, accommodating tens of thousands of people. Previously, Blackpink attracted approximately 1.8 million spectators to set a new K-pop girl group record and will set another record with this tour after 1 year and 5 months.
The opening performance at Goyang Sports Complex, which announces the start of the tour, is the first solo concert of a K-pop girl group, and the entry into "London Wembley", the dream stage often called the home of pop, is also a first for a K-pop female artist achieved by Blackpink. Attention is drawn to new records that Blackpink will continue to set.
The "YG girl group youngest" has also started their debut world tour in 2025 amidst explosive growth. Baby Monster, who started in Seoul in January and concluded performances in Newark and LA, has expanded their scale to include a North American tour beyond Asia.
Recently, Baby Monster has proven their overwhelming live skills on major network flagship programs, including NBC's "The Kelly Clarkson Show", gaining immense love from local fans. They are set to continuously solidify their presence by meeting local fans in August and September.
YG's focus on its core business continues through the tour activities of the three groups that carry on the lineage of girl groups. As the queens return in 2025, the confidence in YG's decision to end actor management and concentrate on its core business will be validated through these groups.
