"Lobby" Ha Jung-woo revealed his nervousness as he returns with his third directorial film.
On the morning of the 4th, a production briefing for the movie "Lobby" was held at Lotte Cinema in Kondae. The event was attended by leading actor and director Ha Jung-woo, as well as Kim Eui-sung, Gang Hae-rim, Lee Dong-hwi, Park Byeong-eun, Choi Si-won, Cha Joo-young, Kwak Sun-young, and Gang Mal-geum.
"Lobby" (director Ha Jung-woo, produced by Workhouse Company and Film Momentum, provided by Michigan Venture Capital Co. and WYSIWYG STUDIOS Co., distributed by SHOWBOX), depicts the story of a startup representative, Chang-wook (Ha Jung-woo), who knows nothing outside of research and embarks on his first lobbying golf session to secure a $4 trillion national project. Ha Jung-woo debuted as a director with his first film "Roller Coaster" in 2013, followed by "The Drug King" in 2015, marking his return to directing after 10 years.
In the film, Ha Jung-woo plays Chang-wook, a startup representative who only knows research and aims to succeed with technology. Park Byeong-eun plays Kwang-woo, the rival company representative who wins business through lobbying. Kim Eui-sung portrays a veteran civil servant and political powerhouse, Choi Si-lak. Gang Hae-rim plays Jin-pro, a professional golfer. Lee Dong-hwi plays a reporter who facilitates lobbying. Choi Si-won plays the national actor, Mat-tae-soo. Cha Joo-young plays the golf course's lady, Dami. Kwak Sun-young plays the director's aide who supports Chang-wook, and Gang Mal-geum portrays the ambitious Minister Cho, who has little interest in practical matters.
Ha Jung-woo said, "It took a long time to get to my third work. During that time, I contemplated many pieces, but ultimately couldn't create them. So I had a lot of worries," adding, "When the story of 'Lobby' came to mind, I thought I had to do it without fail. As an actor, I felt more nervous and restless as I approach the release as a director."
In response to the question, "How did you balance between being an actor and a director?" he laughed, saying, "It was still awkward and strange for me to act and say 'cut.' The actors and staff watching that were the ones who felt awkward and had no choice but to act nonchalantly."
Meanwhile, "Lobby" is set to be released on April 2.
