Channel A's 'Witch' created an unprecedented level of tension with the close encounter ending between Park Jin-young and Noh Jung-ui. The 'law of death' surrounding Noh Jung-ui might also affect Park Jin-young, elevating heart rates.
In the sixth episode of Channel A's weekend drama 'Witch,' broadcast on 2nd, Dong-jin (Park Jin-young) fought desperately to collect data and minimize the errors in his hypothesis for Mi-jeong (Noh Jung-ui), unfolding with intense urgency. Dong-jin investigated the accidents that occurred around Mi-jeong and analyzed statistics based on the collected data to find consistent patterns. As of 2013, over 40 people had been injured around Mi-jeong, with 2 presumed to be directly related deaths. Through this, he established five laws and prerequisites for the activation of the 'law of death.' However, these were merely hypotheses and inferences; more data was needed.
Thus, Dong-jin visited Eun-sil (Jang Hee-ryeong), who had been closest to Mi-jeong for the past 9 years since their time at Korea University. This was to collect cases even from Mi-jeong's university days and minimize errors in the hypothesis. Dong-jin's sincere desire to help Mi-jeong regain her ordinary life moved Eun-sil. Feeling pity for Mi-jeong, Eun-sil also hoped that someone would bring her out into the world, and began to assist Dong-jin, wishing that he would be that person.
The university life of Mi-jeong that Eun-sil heard about was not much different from that of Mi-dong-go. Mi-jeong dressed in drab clothing to avoid the eyes of others and quietly attended school like a ghost, but male students looked at her with intrigue. Mi-jeong was so popular that students from other majors came to see her. Similarly, she frequently experienced accidents at Korea University, such as getting injured falling down stairs, breaking her nose while playing foot volleyball, or injuring her ribs while riding a motorcycle. As rumors began to circulate at Korea University that these incidents were somehow connected to Mi-jeong, senior Ik-jong (Joo Jong-hyuk) added credibility by saying, 'If you meet or like her, you'll get hurt or die.'
Subsequently, a decisive incident occurred that branded Mi-jeong as a 'witch' at Korea University. Professor Jeong (Kwon Da-sol), who had a crush on Mi-jeong, confessed his feelings; sensing something unusual, Mi-jeong left her seat midway. However, it was already too late. Professor Jeong, who had been sitting on the window ledge gazing at Mi-jeong, lost his balance and fell. Following this incident, the rumor of her being a 'witch' became a fact, leading Mi-jeong to drop out.
From the moment she first saw Mi-jeong, Eun-sil felt a strong concern for her and became the only one to stay by her side. Even when rumors of her being a 'witch' spread within the school, Eun-sil did not believe them and sought out Mi-jeong after her dropout. Mi-jeong was living alone in an area marked for demolition, minimizing contact with people. Additionally, despite the perilous situation of having a burglar invade her home, she seemed resigned, stating, 'This is the only way I can manage.' Eun-sil, feeling pity for Mi-jeong, became her only 'sister' and helped her to be able to stay in her rooftop room.
Having learned all about Mi-jeong's situation, Dong-jin's next step was to meet those who had been involved in the accidents at that time, with Eun-sil's assistance. Again, those individuals met one or more of the five 'laws of death' that Dong-jin established, with the deceased Professor Jeong fulfilling all conditions. However, Dong-jin also understood the limitations of relying on uncertain memories and records from over a decade ago to minimize errors in his hypothesis.
Consequently, Dong-jin concluded that he needed to verify whether the 'law of death' still applied in the present. If the hypothesis were correct, he would now become the most dangerous target. However, with thoughts of Mi-jeong causing him pain, Dong-jin did not hesitate. He approached her house as a delivery person for the daily necessities Mi-jeong ordered from the mart. Eventually, when Mi-jeong appeared, it marked the moment of their first encounter. Amid suffocating tension, it was a moment of heightened curiosity for what outcome would arise from Dong-jin's risky test of the 'law of death.'
