Comedian Lee Young-ja and actor Hwang Dong-joo have officially started dating. After confirming their feelings for each other, the two went on a date and revealed plans for a trip abroad together.
In the KBS 2TV variety show "Old Meeting Pursuit" which aired on the 2nd, Hwang Dong-joo was shown joining the after-date of Koo Bon-seung and Kim Sook. Hwang Dong-joo said, "This is my first experience like this, so I don't really know what's what yet. While watching the broadcast, I actually felt like I slightly forgot my age. I usually don't act like that outside, but inside, I tend to express myself. I sometimes think that I might have been a bit tipsy."
Hwang Dong-joo and Lee Young-ja sometimes check in with each other. Hwang Dong-joo noted, "After it ended, I didn't have my phone, so I gave my contact information through my manager. I was filming in Andong, and when I looked after I finished, I saw a text from Yumi. I was like, 'I really got a text, I really got a text.' I kept saying that. When it came to responding, I kept wondering what to do, but it was really nice. After finishing filming in Andong that day, I had to come up right away, but I went out to eat meat with the kids."
Then Kim Sook asked, "Have you been in touch since then? Have you sent aggressive texts?" Hwang Dong-joo replied, "Not often, but I do send greeting texts. I was actually a bit worried; it doesn't go well. I don't do it directly, but in an indirect way."
Kim Sook suggested calling Lee Young-ja, and Hwang Dong-joo remarked, "I was surprised because I hadn't expected it at all, so I didn't know what to say, but it was nice."
Receiving the call cheerfully, Lee Young-ja expressed her disappointment and jealousy towards Hwang Dong-joo, saying, "Why hasn't Dong-joo said anything about wanting to meet me? Don't you like me? Was I just a decoy?"
When Hwang Dong-joo answered the call, Lee Young-ja said, "Then take care. If you have feelings for Sook, then choose Sook. You've never said a word about meeting me," expressing her regret. Hwang Dong-joo responded, "You seemed busy," sounding flustered.
Kim Sook told Lee Young-ja, "Was Dong-joo waiting to say let's grab a meal? Dong-joo seems to be considerate of you and has been waiting." She added, "He didn't say he wanted to meet. Is this how it ends? I don't know anything about dating; I'm terrible at it." Hwang Dong-joo, who was careful not to offend Lee Young-ja, promised to go eat Pyongyang naengmyeon.
Later, the two's reunion was previewed, with Hwang Dong-joo showing up with a large bouquet of flowers for Lee Young-ja. Delighted, Lee Young-ja hugged Hwang Dong-joo, saying she had brought a big bunch. Lee Young-ja also prepared a gift for Hwang Dong-joo, and his surprised reaction upon seeing it sparked curiosity.
