Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun's warm advice brought tears to the guest.
On the broadcast of KBS Joy's 'Anything Goes' (hereinafter referred to as 'Anything Goes') on the 3rd, a guest who decided to appear due to parental domestic violence shared their story.
The guest opened up by saying, "I have been a victim of domestic violence since I was young. Recently, my parents apologized. Although this is the words I have been waiting for all this time, I felt no emotion. I want to forgive them, but I don’t know how to do it."
The guest recounted, "When I was in the 2nd grade of elementary school, I came home to find my mother had bought a new fryer. It was broken. She said, 'Didn’t you break it?' I was beaten for about 2 hours. My younger brother didn’t get hit; I was the only one who got hit."
The guest mentioned, "I was told I was a useless human being. As I entered middle school, the beating stopped, but the emotional abuse intensified. I would be angry for 2 hours at a time. I became independent right after graduation. I ran away from home for 2 weeks after entering college. After living in a state of no communication, I got a boyfriend at the age of 25, but I experienced dating violence. His obsession was so intense that he micromanaged my actions down to the minute, and it became even more controlling. I was confined at home for about 3 months. During that time, I would get drunk and collapse. My parents would curse at me, asking why I was living like garbage. When I yelled at my mother, my father beat me until the mop handle broke." This shocked everyone.
The guest also experienced bullying at work. He shared that he did things he shouldn't have done due to the difficult situation. The guest added, "I would wake up in the emergency room in the morning, go to work that day, and repeat this process. Only then did they apologize."
Seo Jang-hoon said, "Don't worry about forgiving or reconciling with your parents; you must follow your own path," and the guest cried at this heartfelt advice. Seo Jang-hoon continued, "Whether they apologize or not, you have to live your life. Focus on living," while Lee Soo-geun advised, "You need to carve out your own life."
