Actress Jeon Hye-jin, who mourns the late Lee Seon-kyun, is making her comeback today (3rd) after more than a year.
Jeon Hye-jin returns to the home theater with the Genie TV original drama 'Riding Life' (written by Sung Yoon-a and Jo Won-dong, directed by Kim Cheol-kyu), which will premiere at 10 p.m. today. This is her first drama in 1 year and 8 months since 'Namnam,' which aired in July 2023.
'Riding Life' is a work depicting the lives of three generations of mothers and daughters in Daechi-dong, focusing on the energetic working mom Jeong Eun (played by Jeon Hye-jin), who entrusts her mother Jia (played by Jo Min-soo) with her daughter's '7-year-old exam' preparation and the riding academy. It will vividly shine a light on the private education scene for young children, which has gained attention to the extent that terms like '7-year-old exam' and 'riding academy' have emerged.
In the drama, Jeon Hye-jin plays the role of a working mom, Lee Jeong-eun, who wishes to excel in both work and parenting. The character experiences unexpected conflicts with her daughter when she suddenly has to leave her daughter Seoyoon's riding lessons to her mother Jia.
In reality, Jeon Hye-jin is also a working mom raising two sons. She is said to be very interested in her children's education, which increases expectations as she has a high synchronization rate with her character. Especially, as Jeon Hye-jin has shown impressive performances by transitioning through various characters in several films and dramas, there is curiosity about how she will portray a 'Daechi mom.'
During the production presentation, Jeon Hye-jin noted, 'I actually have a lot of interest in education. I can't help but have it. Once you have the title of a mom, especially in Korea, you can't escape it. I was curious about how it would unfold, especially since it is set in Daechi-dong. I was drawn to various aspects of the story.'
Jeon Hye-jin also said, 'Since I am working and have children, I feel like I have that. I wonder if I am as passionate as Jeong Eun. I am doing my best according to the situation, but I am not as much as Jeong Eun.' She expressed her hopes that 'moms can find comfort, encouragement, and fun while watching the drama after parenting.'
'Riding Life' is also Jeon Hye-jin's comeback work. She previously lost her husband, actor Lee Seon-kyun, in December 2023. After taking some personal time, attention and anticipation are focused on her first acting comeback project.
