JYP Entertainment (hereafter JYP) next-generation boy group KickFlip has successfully completed their debut activities, showcasing their presence as 'K-pop super rookies.'
KickFlip made their debut in the music industry with their first mini album 'Flip it, Kick it!' on Jan. 20. The pre-release track 'Uh, Yeah,' featuring catchy point choreography captured on various music broadcasts, and the title track 'Mama Said (What Are You Going to Be?)', bursting with cheerful energy, were also showcased, alongside the performance of the track 'Knock Knock,' which highlighted a hip vibe, leaving a strong impression on viewers.
Through their debut activities, members Gyeo-hun, Amaru, Dong-hwa, Joo-wang, Min-je, KJ, and Dong-hyun revealed their diverse charms, stating, "As we recorded our first music broadcast, we could feel the cheers and support coming through the in-ears, which made us realize we were debuting. It was an overwhelming moment as it was something we had dreamed of for a long time, and I remember discussing with the members how hearing those cheers gave us immense strength. We were thankful every time we took the stage and thought about wanting to do this for a long time to come."
Especially, Dong-hwa added, "During my first live broadcast while performing 'Uh, Yeah', I remember feeling disappointed that I couldn't show a perfect performance as my arm dislocated suddenly. I felt regretful, but the members took care of me really well, and I was touched by fans' responses saying, 'It's nice to see Dong-hwa giving his all despite being in pain.' I want to show an even better performance in our next activities," he expressed, making a firm commitment.
The members continued, "Thank you sincerely to everyone who supports and loves KickFlip, which has just taken its first steps. It was an honor to win an award at the first awards ceremony we attended and to experience magazine cover shoots. Every moment was filled with gratitude. We will continue to work hard and become a proud KickFlip, using the precious hearts you have sent throughout our first activities as nourishment." About KickFlip's goals, they expressed, "We want to be a group that continues to grow without limitations. Please keep watching us!"
KickFlip's debut work 'Flip it, Kick it!' achieved 322,000 copies in its first week according to the shipment amounts from the record sales aggregation site Circle Chart, topping the weekly album charts and weekly retail album charts (Jan. 19 - Jan. 25, 2025), and recording 276,881 copies for the initial sales on the Hanter Chart, which led to obtaining the official initial sales certification. Their official social media channel followers and cumulative views surged rapidly, and just 33 days after their debut, they won two awards at their first appearance in a music awards ceremony, proving their influence as 'K-pop super rookies.' Various fashion magazines, including Dazed Korea and Vogue Korea, continued to reach out, and they notably adorned the cover of the AtStyle magazine's March issue.
With significant achievements, attention from domestic and international K-pop fans is focused on the future steps of JYP's next-generation boy group KickFlip.
