On the 2nd, stand-up comedian Danny Cho visited SBS Power FM (107.7 MHz) 'Escape from Two o'clock Cultwo Show' (hereafter 'Cultwo Show'). Danny Cho is actively continuing his activities by hosting a nationwide stand-up comedy tour 'Romantic Comedy'.
Danny Cho mentioned that he was born in LA, studied economics at UCLA, and worked at a consulting firm, noting that he nurtured his dream of becoming a comedian since his college days. He started in amateur stand-up comedy called 'open mic' and eventually performed on stage at a comedy club for pay, stating, "It is not common for a college student to earn money on a comedy stage," expressing pride in his achievements. He also mentioned that after paying off all his loans, he began to pursue the path of a comedian without looking back.
Danny Cho was noted as the elder statesman of the 'Meta Comedy Club.' Lee Jae-yul, a colleague from the same company and special DJ, introduced Danny Cho as "the oldest and the one with the longest comedy experience." In response to Kim Tae-kyun's question about why he was doing comedy in Korea when the American market is large, Danny Cho replied, "When I visited Korea, I saw a stand-up comedy performance in Hongdae, and it was really bad. They didn't understand the culture of stand-up comedy. It had a 'get off my lawn' mentality." The team that performed at that time includes comedians who are currently active under 'Pisik University.'
Danny Cho's stand-up comedy show 'Romantic Comedy' mainly features stories about girlfriends and is suitable for viewers aged 19 and older. It is scheduled to visit five cities: Gwangju, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Seoul, with tickets for the shows in Seoul and Busan selling out immediately after the release, leading to the addition of another performance time. The first nationwide tour 'KOREAN DREAM' held in 2023 included encore performances, and last year a live performance film was released in CGV, surpassing the break-even point.
Danny Cho also introduced his currently running YouTube channel 'Talboseun Natsuljung.' He stated, "It's an American-style podcast where we have one-and-a-half hours of free talking without any specific segments." He explained his criteria for inviting guests, including Kwak Beom, Lee Chang-ho, Lee Sun-min, Lee Jae-yul, Lim Woo-il, and others from a diverse spectrum, saying, "If I find someone's story interesting, I'll invite them. It doesn't have to be funny; I want it to be comfortably listened to." When asked why he's close to Park Jae-beom, Danny Cho responded with a laugh, "There's a Korean-American cartel."
