Actor Jeong Han-yong opened up about the sorrow of losing a child.

Jeong Han-yong said, "I have a famous story about losing my first child. After getting married, I had my first son. From the moment he was born, one of his lungs was collapsed. He wasn't healthy. I carried an oxygen tank around all the time. When the child grows, they say that even with only one lung, he can grow up healthy. I raised him while dragging the oxygen tank around, but he got pneumonia."
He continued, "I went to the hospital for treatment, but he couldn't overcome it. When he was about 5 months old, he passed away. When the baby was this small, he was using a shock device and rolled around under the bed. I prayed to all the gods. I asked, 'Please let him live.' But they said he died. My mother carried the baby away. My wife and I went home gathering toys that were in the hospital room, but I was in a daze. I was completely lost."
He expressed, "It was really hard. I quit all my broadcasts. I was doing two dramas, but going for recordings, I didn't want to talk to anyone. I didn't show my feelings to anyone. My father and mother were so shocked that they left home. There were traces of the baby in the house. I couldn't bear to stay at home either."
Jeong Han-yong said, "When I first went for the recording, I couldn't gather my thoughts. The script and everything else. I was crying. When people asked, 'What's wrong with your face?' I said, 'It's nothing.' I went straight to the president's office in the morning. The president said, 'I'll take care of it, so just relax.' Everyone I was recording with disappeared from the drama," referring to how his grief led him to quit his job.
He said, "Everyone told me to forget about the baby quickly. At that time, I was close to a foreign priest. That person said, 'You should never try to forget your baby. How can you forget? How happy were you looking into that child's eyes? How sad were you when he died? You should never forget a child who gave you such great joy and great sorrow.'" This moved everyone to tears.
