EXID group member Hanni has resumed social media activities, launching a signal for her comeback along with news of her television grants.
Hanni suspended her activities, including dropping out of an entertainment program she was scheduled to appear in, after a patient death incident occurred at the hospital of psychologist Yang Jae-woong, to whom she promised marriage.
The patient death incident at Yang Jae-woong's hospital occurred in May of last year. It was revealed two months after the death that patient A had passed away 17 days after being hospitalized for treatment of diet pill addiction. Yang finally stated through his agency, "We cannot hide our deep sorrow regarding the incident that occurred during the hospitalization process. We sincerely apologize to the bereaved family members who must be grieving the loss of their loved one," but could not escape public criticism.
Following the patient death incident, there has been criticism that Hanni, who announced her marriage shortly after, could not have been unaware of it. Without stating a clear position, Hanni halted her activities, including dropping out of the entertainment program she was scheduled to appear in, and postponed her wedding that was initially planned for September.
Hanni, who suspended her personal activities, partially resumed her activities by attending the 'Big Ground Fest 2024' held in November last year at the Beach City International Stadium in Ancol, Northern Indonesia, with EXID members. She also sang at the wedding of a friend with whom she has a long-standing relationship.
Seemingly aware of public opinion, Hanni, who had not made any appearances on broadcasts, will resume her activities in 2025. The stepping stone for this will be KBS2's 'Immortal Songs,' featuring Baby V.O.X’s special edition. Amid a lineup that includes Stephanie, Yuk Jung-wan Band, the 'The Dantala' team, Woni, and Liborante (Jung Seung-won), the complete EXID will also participate. Hanni's return to television is particularly noteworthy as it will be her first since the patient death incident at Yang Jae-woong's hospital.
Additionally, Hanni has resumed her social media activity. On the 1st, she posted a photo depicting her recent state along with the text 'Dharamsala' on her personal social media account. Previously, Hanni, who was revealed to have transformed into a short haircut through the personal social media accounts of EXID members, presented her recent state in a casual and unadorned manner.
Meanwhile, Yang Jae-woong attended the parliamentary audit held last October and remarked, "I do not acknowledge (the negligence). It is hard to admit. Once again, I would like to say that we apologize for not safely recovering your daughter or sister after you trusted us with her hospitalization."
