Actress late Oh Hyun-gyeong has passed away one year ago.
Oh Hyun-gyeong died on the 1st of last year after struggling with a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 88 years old.
After collapsing due to a cerebral hemorrhage in August 2023, Oh Hyun-gyeong lived with her illness but ultimately could not rise and passed away.
The deceased graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Korean language and literature and was a member of the Yonsei Theater Arts Research Society during her time there. She grants in dramas such as 'The Marriage of Figaro,' 'The Joy of Bumpkin,' and 'The Tale of Heo Saeng,' and she passionately portrayed the role of Lee Jang-soo in the drama 'Sonja Byeongbeop' as a KBS first-generation talent.
She briefly paused her acting career due to esophageal cancer and stomach cancer, but returned to the stage in a play in 2008, receiving much applause. Notably, before her illness, she participated as Shakespeare in the performance 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' held at the Yonsei University outdoor theater.
Following the news of Oh Hyun-gyeong's passing, Lee Soon-jae, now the oldest actor in the entertainment industry, expressed his sorrow. He noted, "Lee Nak-hoon, Kim Dong-hoon, Kim Seong-ok, Kim Sun-cheol, and Oh Hyun-gyeong were the ones who opened TBC, and now only I am left." At the funeral, he said, "Since Lee Nak-hoon, Kim Dong-hoon, Kim Seong-ok, and Kim Sun-cheol are all here, meet well, and I will be going soon, so I hope to meet you soon," expressing his sadness.
