Director Bong Joon-ho shared how he came to work with Robert Pattinson.
On the 28th, a video titled "First Blah Blah with Hollywood World Star" was posted on YouTube channel 'Channel 15'.
The released video features actor Robert Pattinson from the movie 'Mickey 17' and director Bong Joon-ho as guests, who took the time to comment while watching the trailer.
In response, Director Bong said, "(Robert) has done many excellent independent films in America. If you look at other movies, his acting spectrum is broad. Because he has such a handsome face, it wasn't easy to capture him looking less handsome. That's tough," adding, "I experienced that kind of trouble with actor Won Bin during 'Mother.' It's not an easy task," which drew laughter.
Na Young-seok also inquired, "Was Robert Pattinson in mind while writing the script, or did you suddenly think, 'It has to be Robert'?" to which Bong responded, "By the time we were nearly finishing the script, that thought had solidified. Was he the first choice? The zero choice."
He continued, "So during the initial meeting, we met casually without having read the script, and then I sent the script afterward. I thought it would be nice if we could read the script and have fun with it," jokingly telling Pattinson, "I was incredibly nervous then. I heard you're very particular."
In this regard, Pattinson shared, "That was around the time I had just finished 'The Batman,' and I always want my next project to be completely different from the previous one. I wanted to do something entirely different, but I didn't know exactly what that was. Then I encountered 'Mickey 17,' and I thought, 'This is it.' It was perfect timing."
Director Bong recalled, "The day of the meeting was fun. When he walked into the cafe, he really looked like Mickey. He seemed somewhat wronged," to which Pattinson quipped, "You didn't think, 'He really looks stupid' or something like that?" which drew laughter.
'Mickey 17' features a story about expendables sent on dangerous missions who get printed again upon death. The narrative revolves around the 17th expendable facing a near-death situation, while another, 'Mickey 18,' is printed thinking he has died, leading to unpredictable events. The film can be seen in theaters nationwide.
