A teenage corpse was found, burned in a peach orchard.
During an episode of T-Cast E channel's "Brave Detectives 4" that aired on the 28th, former Police Chief Yun Wae-chul of the Scientific Investigation Unit (KCSI) and Inspector Kim Jin-soo appeared to discuss the incident that took place in a peach orchard in Cheongdo.
In July 2008, the incident began with a report from an elderly person passing through a peach orchard in Gyeongbuk Cheongdo. It was the corpse found right next to the road. The witness, an elderly person, noted, "I thought a dog had died and was left there."
Inspector Kim Jin-soo shocked many when he said, "The body of a boy was found burned." He further noted, "He was barefoot without socks, and his entire body was charred. It is presumed that the body caught fire and then extinguished itself naturally."
Inspector Kim Jin-soo stated, "There were burn marks and charred newspapers under the peach tree, leading us to track the place of arson to where the body was found." He also mentioned, "The body was bound. The legs were wrapped in blue tape, and it appeared to have been tied by pulling each leg in different directions."
It was noted that the body was made smaller. Kwon Il-yong mentioned, "It can be seen that they tried to reduce the volume of the body for easy transport, which was quite unnatural." The cause of death was revealed to be asphyxiation due to external compression. Kim Sun-young expressed her distress, saying, "It's so horrifying."
Kwon Il-yong handed over a wanted poster for the deceased. The boy is estimated to be between 13 and 15 years old and presumed to be an elementary school student. However, Kim Sun-young noted, "If it were a middle school student, their growth seems to be very slow."
The Shinwon manhunt began, but there were no significant leads. Former Police Chief Yun Wae-chul remarked, "We even looked into a person who bought kerosene at a nearby gas station, but no useful information came to light."
Eventually, police in the Daegu and Cheongdo regions searched for students who hadn't attended emergency assembly days, revealing that one child hadn't come to school and that the parents reported the child missing.
As a result of the investigation, the child's fingerprints matched those of the body found in the peach orchard, leading to the shocking revelation that the parents had killed the child.
