Actor Nam Hyun-woo and Cha Mi-gyeong are set to deliver outstanding performances in "Potato Research Institute."
The new tvN weekend drama "Potato Research Institute," directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun, written by Kim Ho-soo, planned by CJ ENM Studios, and produced by Chorokbaem Media, will premiere on March 1 (Saturday) and depicts a healing comic romance where the cold principled Baek Ho (played by Kang Tae-oh) appears before Mi-gyeong (played by Lee Sun-bin), for whom potatoes are everything, swirling like a whirling potato.
In particular, the collaboration between director Kang Il-soo, known for showcasing a variety of emotions across genres such as "My Fellow Citizens" and "Solomon's Perjury," and writer Kim Ho-soo is garnering public interest.
In "Potato Research Institute," Nam Hyun-woo and Cha Mi-gyeong will portray 'Kwon Hee-dong,' an employee of the research institute, and the imposing 'Chairman Wang' of Wonhan Retail, respectively. Kwon Hee-dong is the youngest member of the 'Jangchung-dong Trio,' a naive character with the passion and energy typical of a newcomer, demonstrating vibrant energy and a smile 24/7. Cha Mi-gyeong's character, Chairman Wang, is set to showcase a charismatic side as the head of the Wonhan Retail company, which has merged with the potato research institute under Sunyeon Foods. The performances of Nam Hyun-woo and Cha Mi-gyeong are expected to enrich "Potato Research Institute."
So far, Nam Hyun-woo has made a name for himself with natural comic acting and serious performances in various dramas and entertainment programs including Watcha's "Jojoso," "SNL Korea," tvN's "No Use for a Lie," and MBC's "Crime Investigation Unit 1958." Meanwhile, Cha Mi-gyeong has proven her acting skills by crossing the screen and television with works like SBS's "Good Partner," ENA's "Tell Me You Love Me," the film "Three Days of Leave," and "Letter from Kyoto," drawing attention to their contributions in "Potato Research Institute."
Meanwhile, the new tvN weekend drama "Potato Research Institute," featuring Nam Hyun-woo and Cha Mi-gyeong, will premiere at 9:20 p.m. on March 1.
