The nation's top and longest-running entertainment program "National Singing Contest" is broadcasting the 'Yeongdeungpo District of Seoul' episode, featuring a special celebration stage by the late Song Dae-kwan, Yang Ji-eun, Na Sang-do, Sung Min-ji, and Lee Dae-won.
KBS1 "National Singing Contest" has been a beloved public participation audition program every Sunday for 45 years, maintaining its position as the nation's top entertainment program and consistently ranking first in its time slot (according to Nielsen Korea).
The 2107th episode airing on March 2 will showcase the 'Yeongdeungpo District of Seoul,' where 17 finalists will take the stage at a special venue set up at Yanghwa Hangang Park, displaying a captivating array of their unique talents. In addition, guest singers known for their vibrant vocal skills, including Yang Ji-eun's "Night of Yeongdeungpo," Na Sang-do's "Kok Kok Kok," Sung Min-ji's "Mirror Princess," and Lee Dae-won's "Come Visit My Brother's House," will light up the celebration with exciting performances.
Most notably, the broadcast will feature the late Song Dae-kwan's final performance, which garnered sadness due to his sudden passing on the 7th. During the recording, he concluded the singing contest with his signature warm and powerful voice, passionately singing "My Wallet is Brother"—a song that has now become his legacy—drawing thunderous applause from the residents of Yeongdeungpo District who were present. Consequently, the 'Yeongdeungpo District of Seoul' episode is expected to be a meaningful time for recalling the footsteps of the beloved national singer Song Dae-kwan, who comforted the public with his songs.
Meanwhile, the stage will also feature diverse performances from talented participants, including a classical singer performing "Superman" and a musical theater major's rendition of "Maria," as well as songs from global participants hailing from Japan and Finland, promising a captivating competition that heightens curiosity.
The "National Singing Contest" production team noted, "This week's broadcast of 'Yeongdeungpo District of Seoul' will include the late Teacher Song Dae-kwan's final performance. We ask that you join us in remembering the late singer's last song, which brought hope and joy to many people. "
