Kim Seok-hoon, who received the pick from 'national MC' Yoo Jae-suk as 'The Man from Nowhere', is making his comeback to drama after 10 years with 'Beloved Thief.'
On the 26th, OSEN reported exclusively that Kim Seok-hoon would star in the new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Beloved Thief' on KBS 2TV. According to OSEN's coverage, Kim Seok-hoon is expected to appear as the father of the female lead played by actress Nam Ji-hyun in the drama, which will be broadcast this year.
'Beloved Thief' is a fusion historical romantic comedy drama that tells the story of a woman who becomes a thief and a nobleman's spirit from Joseon who are bound to save and protect each other. The work won an excellence award in the 2nd drama screenplay contest held by Studio Dragon in 2020, with writer Lee Sun penning the script.
The male and female leads of 'Beloved Thief' are the rising stars Moon Sang-min and Nam Ji-hyun, who are teaming up. Moon Sang-min received acclaim for his role in the tvN drama 'The Crowned Clown,' while Nam Ji-hyun was praised for her performance in the tvN drama '100 Days My Prince.' This has led to heightened expectations for their performances in 'Beloved Thief.'
In the midst of this, Kim Seok-hoon will play the role of Hong Eun-jo's (Nam Ji-hyun) father. Hong Eun-jo is known as a 'half-woman,' born between a noble father and a slave mother, also referred to as 'the female Hong Gil-dong.' The fact that Kim Seok-hoon, who previously played Hong Gil-dong in a past SBS drama, will meet his 'female Hong Gil-dong' daughter in the work adds meaning to his role.
Moreover, Kim Seok-hoon's appearance in the drama is his first in a whopping 10 years. His last drama appearance was in the MBC drama 'Mom,' which ended in 2016. During this time, Kim Seok-hoon has been active as a storyteller in SBS's 'Curious Story Y' and as 'The Man from Nowhere' in his personal YouTube content, promoting environmental awareness.
In particular, 'The Man from Nowhere' has earned Kim Seok-hoon a new level of fame, often referred to as 'The Man from Nowhere.' Riding this wave, he also appeared on the MBC variety show 'How Do You Play?' and became close friends with entertainer Yoo Jae-suk, whom he met on that show. Due to this relationship, he even appeared as a guest in Yoo Jae-suk's YouTube content 'Excuse Me.'
As such, attention is focused on whether Kim Seok-hoon will showcase performances that surpass his previous roles as 'Yoo Jae-suk's pick' and 'The Man from Nowhere' in the drama he is appearing in after a long time. Regarding Kim Seok-hoon's participation in 'Beloved Thief,' a representative from his agency Mystic Story stated to OSEN, "It is true that actor Kim Seok-hoon received an offer to appear from the 'Beloved Thief' production team. He is currently reviewing it positively."
