After the story of the young and lovely campus couple 'Jae-yoon' (Park Jung-min) and 'Young-joo' (Ji-soo) was revealed in the Coupang Play series 'Newtopia,' the explosive viewer reactions to episode 4 have been phenomenal. According to the OTT content ranking site FlixPatrol, 'Newtopia' ranked 5th globally for TV series on Prime Video as of Feb. 23 and continues to stir a strong 'Zomcom' craze abroad.
The Coupang Play series 'Newtopia' tells the story of soldier Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Young-joo running towards each other across a zombie-infested downtown Seoul. In the released preview for episode 5, Young-joo's team has finally reached in front of A Tower where Jae-yoon is, and Jae-yoon's team attempts an escape from the military unit located on the tower's rooftop, raising expectations of whether Jae-yoon and Young-joo can reunite.
After team Jae-yoon enters the tower fully equipped with firearms and gear, they soon find themselves in a life-and-death struggle with hordes of zombies, increasing the tension. Team Young-joo likewise dashes over cars, avoiding the encircling zombies and desperately fleeing while igniting Molotov cocktails. As team Jae-yoon catches their breath after a brief respite, a startling situation unfolds as everyone appears shocked by what seems to be an issue with 'Jeong Sang-sa' (Lee Ju-won), foretelling another unexpected turn of events.
The stills released alongside capture team Jae-yoon's determined appearance as they attempt to escape A Tower. The image of the somber team Young-joo, armed with golf clubs and Molotov cocktails heading towards A Tower, is also captured. Encouraged by the hope that they can meet Jae-yoon if they go just a little further, team Young-joo crosses the perilous downtown Seoul, raising further anticipation for whether they can safely arrive at the tower and join team Jae-yoon.
'Newtopia,' bolstered by the increasingly intense 'Zomcom' syndrome, will hold a viewer event titled '"Let's watch 'Newtopia' together"' on March 3 at 1 p.m. This special event, the first of its kind for the Coupang Play series, will provide a live chat platform where viewers can binge-watch episodes 1 to 5 together.
