Comedian Lee Su-ji's parody of a 'Daechi mom' has caused an uproar for actress Han Ga-in, who explained the controversy surrounding 'overzealous moms.'
Han appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' broadcast on the 26th, revealing her daily life as a mother and wife rather than as an actress.
Han opened up by saying, "My first child is an elementary school student and my second is a kindergarten student, but they aren't attending kindergarten. One day, they said they wanted to quit kindergarten. They wanted to play alone and spend more time with me, so I told them to quit. Currently, I am in 24-hour intensive parenting."
Han said, "I promised to go to kindergarten starting in March. Recently, I asked my second child, 'You had fun playing with mom for 5 months without going to kindergarten, right?' and they cried, saying, 'I need more time.' So I promised that next month we would go (to kindergarten), but I'm not sure if it will happen."
Han, who previously revealed her daily life of driving her children to their academy, mentioned, "I want to take this opportunity to say that other mothers think I push my kids to study a lot, but that's absolutely not true. They are not the kinds of kids who would be studying a lot."
She added, "I learned what I like after turning 40. I didn't have any experiences when I was young, so I hope my children will find out sooner. There's nothing better than enjoying what I love, so I hope they get to have various experiences and quickly catch on to what they love."
Meanwhile, Lee Su-ji, who is embroiled in allegations of targeting Han Ga-in, remains tight-lipped and has not revealed her stance on the matter. In a recent video titled 'Human Fake Doc: I Love My Children - A Strange Day with Jamie Mom Lee So-dam,' she transformed into Lee So-dam, a mother in the academy district of Daechi-dong, Gangnam, and was seen wearing luxury padding and bags, which are referred to as the uniform of Gangnam moms, while driving her children to their academy.
After the video's release, there was a heated response noting it as a common appearance of mothers in the Gangnam area, but the controversy spilled over to actress Han Ga-in, who had previously released a video of driving her children to the academy. Speculations arose that Lee Su-ji parodied Han, and as negative comments flooded Han's YouTube video, it was switched to private, resulting in a backlash.
Lee Su-ji asked OSEN, "Please contact my agency or manager," while remaining reserved. The agency stated, "Since the channel is operated personally by Lee Su-ji, we do not intervene. We would not have any comment if it were produced within the agency, but we have no idea what is being filmed, so we can't provide further remarks."
