The good deeds of actor Jung Il-woo continue.
It was reported on the 27th that actor Jung Il-woo, who is active as a promotional ambassador for the Korea Red Cross, has embarked on his second overseas volunteer activity in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with members of the Red Cross Youth (RCY).
Jung Il-woo, who was appointed as a promotional ambassador for the Korea Red Cross in 2023, has participated in Samsung's sponsored 'Youth Mentoring Overseas Volunteer Program' alongside 53 middle and high school students and college students from the Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Gangwon regions.
This program, conducted in Vietnam from Feb. 16 to 23, was designed to nurture students as healthy members of society through mentoring between youth and college Red Cross Youth (RCY) members and volunteer activities abroad.
Ambassador Jung Il-woo visited elementary and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, participating in various volunteer activities for the students. He painted murals to improve the dilapidated school environment and had a time cooking and eating Korean dishes with the students, such as tuna rice balls. At the elementary school, he opened Korean language classes, handwashing classes, and music classes, directly teaching local students and presented the school supply set 'Friendship Gift Box'* made by Korean RCY students.
'Friendship Gift Box' is an international Red Cross Youth (RCY) activity that started during World War I when American, Canadian, and Australian youth sent school supplies to students in Europe suffering from the pains of war. Since 1991, the Korea Red Cross has been producing 'Friendship Gift Boxes' filled with school supplies and delivering them to vulnerable youth in Korea and abroad.
Ambassador Jung Il-woo said, 'I spent meaningful time with the students during the Samsung-sponsored overseas volunteer activities of the youth Red Cross in Vietnam and Indonesia. I was able to learn a lot by seeing the youth who participated together.' He added, 'I will participate more in Red Cross activities in the future to spread good influence more widely.'
