KBS announcer Hong Joo-yeon expressed her determination regarding her participation in the 'TV Show Genuine Goods.'
On the 27th, a press conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of KBS1's 'TV Show Genuine Goods (hereafter referred to as Genuine Goods)' was held at the KBS New Building International Conference Room in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
'Genuine Goods' is an antique appraisal program that excavates genuine and valuable items buried in time, providing the joy of learning and realizing, and confirming the true value of our antiques through the sharp eyes of professional appraisers. Having first aired on March 5, 1995, 'Genuine Goods' marks its 30th anniversary this year and plans to captivate viewers with new changes.
Hong Joo-yeon will join 'Genuine Goods' as the first female host and the youngest host. She will participate with a new character, 'Ms. Genuine,' and plans to add freshness to the program by serving as a storyteller that delivers the backstory of the designated items more deeply.
Hong Joo-yeon said, "I have officially joined as Ms. Genuine starting today. I felt burdened by the high interest from the public as I appeared on entertainment shows, but I was worried because I haven't shown anything on air. I am grateful to be part of such a good moment. It feels burdensome, and everyone in the announcer's office told me not to be nervous and to do well. I've shown a nervous side to the people around me, but I will try to blend in well without showing that side on air. I will work hard to learn well."
In particular, Hong Joo-yeon has been in the spotlight due to dating rumors and marriage speculations with Jeon Hyun-moo that began on 'The boss's ears are made for donkeys.' During the episode aired on the 2nd, while discussing with Kim Byung-hyun, Kim Sook and Park Myung-soo joined forces, saying, 'Hyun-moo will get married next month,' and Jeon Hyun-moo added, 'It's been a month since we started dating,' escalating the conversation into a marriage rumor for March. Following this, Jeon Hyun-moo commented on the March marriage rumors, saying, "What's with the March wedding rumors? My mom contacted me and asked if I was getting married. Chuu said, 'Congratulations,' as well. There are so many things that are not true." Park Myung-soo chimed in, "Then let's move it to May," and Jeon Hyun-moo replied, "That sounds good," but quickly changed his mind, saying, "Then if I say it's confirmed for May, another article will come out."
Jeon Hyun-moo said, "Initially, my first thought was that I felt sorry for her. So, I asked her, 'Isn't this too uncomfortable for you?' I don't care because I'm already a mess, but if the other person says 'I'm okay,' then I let it be. Through that, she can get some attention, which is good. The broadcasting environment is not like the old days, so it's really not easy for a rookie announcer to get attention. Isn't it enough to be known this way? The other person is in a situation where she's also saying 'OK.'"
Regarding this, Hong Joo-yeon said, "I'm getting this attention for the first time due to exaggerated articles about the broadcast. It's not that I'm upset, but I am somewhat flustered. I am surprised to be experiencing things I have never gone through before. I want to shake off the burden and slowly show my true self as Ms. Genuine. I hope the name Ms. Genuine appears in my articles a lot."
Meanwhile, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, 'Genuine Goods' airs every Sunday at 10:55 a.m.
