Hong Joo-yeon, a KBS announcer who joined "TV Show Genuine Goods" as "Genuine Lady," shared her thoughts on the first recording.
Hong Joo-yeon participated in the KBS1 recording of "TV Show Genuine Goods" (hereafter referred to as Genuine Goods) held on the 27th at KBS in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul.
Having joined as a KBS 48th generation announcer, Hong Joo-yeon gained attention through the "2024 Paris Olympics" and joined "Genuine Goods," which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, as "Genuine Lady," where she will serve as a storyteller to deliver the background stories of the commissioned items more in-depth, adding freshness to the program.
After completing her first recording, Hong Joo-yeon said, "I was really nervous, so I asked the KODI teacher to prepare a hanbok that wouldn’t show sweat, and I think that was a good decision. I came to broadcast but enjoyed it so much like a viewer that I thought I just needed to blend in well."
While announcer Kang Seung-hwa took charge of introducing the commissioned items, Hong Joo-yeon enriched the program by sharing behind-the-scenes stories and historically intriguing tales. In particular, she enhanced the fun by conveying information in a historical tone that matched the calm lady concept and engaging in playful banter with Kang Seung-hwa.
Hong Joo-yeon stated, "I'm originally someone who smiles a lot, but since I'm still in the process of establishing the concept, I’ve been contemplating whether I should smile completely or suppress my laughter a bit. Today, I thought it would be better to start as a modest lady, so I tried to hold back a little more," adding, "As I proceed as a modest lady, I think it would be good to show a cute younger sister-like vibe later on, where I am somewhat proper but still clumsy, and sometimes I push back and bicker a bit with Kang Seung-hwa."
Regarding the historical tone, she mentioned, "Still, it's difficult to adopt the historical speech style. So, during script reading, I discussed what kind of lady would be good, and then Kim Tae-ri's speech from 'Mr. Sunshine' came up. There aren’t many uses of this style in recent historical dramas, so I have been studying it by looking up how Kim Tae-ri speaks."
Recently attracting attention through "Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears," Hong Joo-yeon noted, "I've been really contemplating whether to pursue more entertainment or educational programs, but I don't think I've shown much of myself as an announcer since I'm coming in without any experience. So I hope to engage in an educational program where I can showcase this kind of self." She also cited announcer Uhm Ji-in as her role model.
In conclusion, Hong Joo-yeon said, "I’m a worry doll. So I’m quite concerned about how viewers will perceive me, but I hope you’ll see me gradually become more of a lady. From a baby lady to a mature lady, I hope you’ll view me as someone you are nurturing together." She added, "I will work really hard and continue to show improved results so that viewers will say, 'That friend joined well,' and 'This is fun.'"
Meanwhile, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, "Genuine Goods" is broadcast every Sunday at 10:55 a.m.
