Comedian Lee Soo-ji, despite the controversy surrounding her 'Daechimom' video, uploaded a second installment and shared bright updates on her social media. Furthermore, support from senior comedian Kim Ji-hye added to the attention.
Recently, Lee Soo-ji posted a video titled "Human fake documentary: I love my child - A strange day of Jamie mom, Lee So-dam" on her YouTube channel.
In the released video, Lee Soo-ji transforms into Lee So-dam (35), a parent known as 'Jamie' from the 학원가 in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and appears dressed in luxury padding and a designer bag, referred to as the 'Gangnam mom school uniform.'
Introducing herself as a mother of a 4-year-old girl, Lee Soo-ji shared moments of taking her child to 학원 (a private tutoring institution). She mentioned having no time to eat, substituting her meal with a single roll of gimbap while waiting, and also expressed overwhelming joy upon receiving a phone call from a native teacher, learning that her child had successfully completed potty training.
The video has received a warm response, surpassing 6 million views shortly after its release, but some left mocking and derogatory comments towards 'Daechimom.' Subsequently, the backlash unexpectedly extended to actress Han Ga-in, leading to further controversy.
Earlier, in October of last year, Han Ga-in captured attention on her YouTube channel as she drove from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for her children's school commutes and study sessions, which totaled 14 hours of full-day riding. Recently, as some netizens connected Lee Soo-ji's parody of 'Daechimom' to Han Ga-in, criticising her with comments like "I just watched Lee Soo-ji's video," suspicions arose that Lee Soo-ji mocked Han Ga-in's appearance, given the similar thumbnail composition and the portrayal of eating a meal in the car, along with the similarity in their children's names.
However, amid the controversy, on the 25th, Lee Soo-ji shared a photo certifying her attendance at the staff preview of the movie 'Baeksu Apartment' on her social media, sending a message of support saying, "Capturing fun and emotion and even the loveliness of Kyung Soo-jin. I will watch it again." Later, at 6 p.m., she also uploaded the second video of 'Daechimom.'
On the same day, senior comedian Kim Ji-hye posted a photo of herself wearing the mink vest that Lee Soo-ji wore in the second video of 'Daechimom' on her social media. She continued with, "Goodbye. My last shot. Why do we have this in our house? Oh no. I hope Jamie mom isn't wearing Dior sneakers next time," adding, "Number one among all comedians. By my standards. It's so funny" to send a message of support, drawing attention.
Meanwhile, on the 25th, in a phone call with OSEN, Lee Soo-ji said regarding the 'Daechimom' video controversy, "Please contact my company or manager." Additionally, the representative from her agency, iHQ, clarified to OSEN, "Since the channel is personally operated by Lee Soo-ji, the agency does not interfere. If it were produced within the agency, that would be different, but as we know nothing about what is being filmed, we have nothing to comment on."
