The Yeon Sang-ho world is reopening.
The Netflix movie <Revelation> depicts the story of a pastor who believes that punishing the perpetrator of a missing persons case is a divine revelation and a detective in charge of the case who is plagued by the spirit of his deceased brother, each pursuing their own beliefs.
The press stills released on the 26th captured the tense moments of Pastor "Seong Min-chan" (Ryu Jun-yeol), the detective in charge, "Lee Yeon-hee" (Shin Hyun-bin), and the suspect, former convict "Kwon Yang-rae" (Shin Min-jae), in a missing persons case where a young church member disappears without a trace. First, Ryu Jun-yeol, who plays "Seong Min-chan," receives a divine revelation that former convict "Kwon Yang-rae," who accidentally visits the church, is the perpetrator of the missing persons case, and his diverse expressions reflect his struggle to portray a character with complex inner feelings.
In addition, detective "Lee Yeon-hee," who is unable to escape from past guilt while suffering from the spirit of her deceased brother, discovers suspicious circumstances surrounding "Seong Min-chan" and "Kwon Yang-rae" during her investigation of the missing persons case. The curiosity about what kind of guilt "Lee Yeon-hee" carries regarding her brother, and how this missing persons case is connected to him, is heightened by her suspicious expressions as she investigates the crime scene. Shin Hyun-bin, who perfectly transforms into the traumatized detective "Lee Yeon-hee," captures attention with her portrayal of the character's despair and lethargy, showcasing a short haircut and minimal makeup for an external change to create a fitting character. On a rainy night, the sight of "Kwon Yang-rae," being followed by "Seong Min-chan" while wearing a raincoat, sufficiently sparks viewers' curiosity about whether he is a strong suspect in the missing persons case. Shin Min-jae's new portrayal as the eerie "Kwon Yang-rae" also raises anticipation for <Revelation>.
As director Yeon Sang-ho noted, "The most important thing when directing <Revelation> was to express it realistically," the press stills, which contain the movie's reality, elevate expectations for the film's completeness. The story of three individuals embarking on a mad chase following their different beliefs surrounding the missing persons case is set to provide viewers worldwide with a unique psychological thriller experience with unpredictable developments and intense tension.
The film <Revelation>, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, featuring a solid story created in collaboration with writer Choi Kyu-seok after <Hell>, and collaboration with executive producer Alfonso Cuarón, alongside explosive performances by Ryu Jun-yeol, Shin Hyun-bin, and Shin Min-jae, will be released globally on Netflix on March 21 (Friday).
