Actor Jung Han-yong opened up about the sorrow of losing a child.
On the 26th, MBN 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' released a preview video showing Jung Han-yong discussing the topic 'times when parents were upset because of their children.'
That day, Jung Han-yong started by saying, "I lost a child. My first child. The son I had right after getting married, but he had one lung collapsed since birth, so he was not healthy. He carried an oxygen tank all the time. When he grew up, they said he could be raised healthily with only one lung, so I brought him home and raised him while dragging the oxygen tank along."
He continued, "However, he caught pneumonia. When we went to the hospital for treatment, he couldn't overcome it. After about 4 months or 5 months, he went to the other world." He added, "They were giving electric shocks to such a small child, and I rolled around under the bed (crying). I prayed to all the deities. If only you save him, I will definitely follow your will. But I was told he had died."
Jung Han-yong recalled, "Later, my wife and I gathered some toys from the hospital and came home. I was out of my mind. I was shattered. I couldn't broadcast." He mentioned, "At that time, I was doing two dramas. When I went to record, I didn't even want to talk about this. I didn't show it to anyone. My parents were so shocked that they left home. There were traces of the baby everywhere in the house. I also couldn't be at home. So I went to record, but I was in such a daze. The script and everything else didn't matter. I cried so much. When I came out, people would ask, 'What happened to your face?'"
He said, "It was impossible for me to record, so I went directly to the president's office of the broadcasting station in the morning. I explained everything. I told them I couldn't record. The president replied, 'I completely empathize. I will take care of it, so feel free to go home.' So I just came home. Later, all the family actors who appeared with me in the drama were removed. They probably didn't even know why they were cut."
He added, "Everyone told me to 'forget the child quickly.' At that time, there was an American priest I was close to. The priest told me, 'Never forget that child. How can you forget? How happy were you when that child was born? Who could give you such great joy twice? And when he died, how sad were you? Others don't know such a great sorrow. Jung Han-yong stated, "Through that child, I learned about pain and joy. In any case, people eventually part ways, so I thought I had practiced that a bit early; I definitely thought I should never forget this." He added, "The very existence of a child is great joy and filial piety."
