The BL drama "Secret Love," produced by Playlist (CEO Park Tae-won) in collaboration with Fuji TV and Kakao Entertainment, will be released on Feb. 27.
Based on the Kakao webtoon "Secret Love" (written by McQueen Studio), which has recorded a cumulative view count of 170 million, this drama is generating even more excitement as it's Playlist's first BL drama.
"Secret Love" is a work that portrays the passionate romance between Daon, who cannot live a normal life, and three men surrounding him. WEi member Kim Jun-seo takes on the role of the protagonist Daon, making his first lead acting attempt, while rookie actors Cha Seon-hyung (playing Seong-hyun), Cha Jung-woo (playing Soo-hyun), and Kim Ho-young (playing Jae-min) are expected to shine.
The production team also boasts a solid lineup. Writer Jeong Su-yoon, known for works like "Boys Flight" and "Your Flavor," participates as a creator, while writer Lee Yu-jin, who worked with Jeong Su-yoon, takes on the writing for her debut project.
The directing is handled by director Yang Kyung-hee, who has directed various BL works, including "When Your Temperature Touches My Fingers" and "The Tractor Carries Love," enhancing the drama's completeness.
At a pre-release screening held on the 22nd, about 200 audience members previewed episodes 1 and 2. Audience members praised the quality, noting, "It's fairly good compared to other dramas," and expressed high expectations, saying, "I want to see episode 3 quickly." The actors also asked for viewers' support, saying, "Please love us as much as we worked hard on the shooting."
The drama production team stated, "We plan to depict a universal love story that captures the characteristics of the BL genre while securing a broad audience base."
Amidst the intense interest of domestic and international BL fans, anticipation for the premiere of "Secret Love" continues to rise. The first episode will be released at midnight on Feb. 27, with new episodes uploaded weekly on Thursdays and Fridays at midnight.
In South Korea, it will be available on Watcha, and in Japan, on FOD, while various platforms will provide regional access for global viewers, including iQIYI, GagaOOLala, and Heavenly.
