Amid the controversy surrounding comedian Lee Su-ji's parody video of 'Daecheemom,' actress Han Ga-in was also affected, while Lee remained silent regarding the issue and continued to upload the second part.
On the 25th, Lee noted in a phone call with OSEN regarding the 'Daecheemom' video controversy, "I would appreciate it if you could contact my company or manager."
On the 4th, Lee uploaded a video titled "[Human Documentary, Children Are Good] EP.01 'With the name Mom' featuring Jamie's mom, Lee So-dam's peculiar day" on her channel 'Hot Issue Ji.'
In the video staged like a documentary, Lee portrayed Lee So-dam, a 'Daecheemom' raising her 4-year-old child Jamie in Gangnam's Daechi-dong. Dressed in luxury padding, referred to as 'Gangnam mom uniform,' she appeared driving Jamie to math academy. Moreover, she quickly ate Kimbap in the car and displayed a high level of academic enthusiasm by meeting Jamie's tutor.
The video received a hot response, surpassing 6 million views shortly after its release and is currently approaching 7 million views. Viewers expressed admiration for Lee Su-ji's remarkable acting skills, which perfectly captured the essence of 'Daecheemom.' At the same time, some left mocking and derogatory comments about 'Daecheemom.'
The issue is that the backlash unexpectedly extended to actress Han Ga-in. The mother of two children, Han had previously uploaded a video on her channel 'Free Woman Han Ga-in' in October of last year, showing her riding with her kids. She personally drove her eldest daughter's school and math academy, as well as her second son's kindergarten. Moreover, due to time constraints, she sometimes had to resort to takeout meals in the car. Some comments criticized the similarities between Lee Su-ji's video and Han Ga-in's appearance, labeling it as 'Gangnam overbearing moms style.' Ultimately, upon realizing that the negative comments impacted her children, Han made the video private.
In response, some netizens raised suspicions that Lee Su-ji's video was a mockery of Han Ga-in. The similarity in thumbnail composition and scenes of eating in the car, as well as the resemblance of their children's names, further fueled doubts. While it remains unclear whether Lee intended to target Han in the video, voices demanding Lee to express her position continued amid the backlash Han experienced due to Lee's video.
In relation to this, Lee Su-ji, attempting to confirm her stance, told OSEN on the 25th, "If it's regarding an interview, I would appreciate it if you could contact my company or manager," avoiding direct answers. However, Lee's agency iHQ stated to OSEN that "since the channel is personally operated by Lee Su-ji, the agency does not get involved. If it were produced within the agency, that would be different, but we know nothing about what is being filmed, so we have nothing to say."
In particular, on the evening of the 25th, following the emergence of the controversy, Lee uploaded the second part of 'Daecheemom' on her 'Hot Issue Ji' channel. Despite the fact that victims had already arisen from the first video, Lee's decision to release a follow-up without any clear statement has brought disappointment from netizens.
