The ‘Riding Life’ is set to premiere its first episode and has released highlight videos featuring Jeon Hye-jin and Jo Min-soo, among others who have jumped into the academy riding scene, to spark interest.
Set to air on March 3, the Genie TV original drama ‘Riding Life’ (written by Seong Yoon-ah and Jo Won-dong, directed by Kim Cheol-kyu) portrays the life in Daechi-dong, highlighting the experiences of a passionate working mom named Jeong Eun, who entrusts her daughter’s ‘7-Year Proficiency Test’ to her mother, Jia, leading to the family’s complex dynamics involving three generations. The drama raises expectations with a cast of trusted actors, including Jeon Hye-jin, Jo Min-soo, Jung Jin-young, and Jeon Seok-ho, and the collaboration with the ‘drama craftsman’ director Kim Cheol-kyu, who directed ‘Mother’ and ‘Flower of Evil.’
The released highlight video begins with the scene of Jeong Eun (played by Jeon Hye-jin), who lives as a long-time director buried in work and parenting. Once a legend who hit the jackpot with everything she touched, she is now portrayed in a bittersweet situation as she rushes out to answer her daughter’s call during lunch hour. Jeong Eun pleads with her mother, Jia (played by Jo Min-soo), saying, "Please help me out," and asks her to take care of her daughter Seoyoon (played by Kim Sa-rang). Unexpectedly entering the Daechi-dong English academy as a ‘beginner rider,’ Jia receives pitying glances as she realizes she has taken on unexpected parenting responsibilities.
Next, the fast-paced life of the three generations of women in Daechi-dong, aimed at the ‘7-Year Proficiency Test,’ begins. Jeong Eun comforts Seoyoon, who doesn’t want to study, saying, "You have to solve this to get into Class A," and firmly states, "Since your dad is a company employee, you can’t be a princess." Meanwhile, ‘Daechi-dong Supermom’ Ho-gyeong (played by Park Bo-gyeong) encourages other mothers to ostracize Jeong Eun and Jia, while Jeong Eun vows, "As long as Seoyoon can do well, I’ll do anything," which raises curiosity about the tumultuous future the three generations will face to survive in Daechi-dong.
The highlight video of ‘Riding Life’ vividly and humorously captures the reality of early childhood private education in Daechi-dong. It shows children receiving handwriting lessons in English from a young age, grandparents who have jumped into late-life parenting, and the affection and budding romance between mothers and daughters that resonate amid intense riding schedules, evoking anticipation for the drama that encompasses empathy, laughter, excitement, and emotion. The performance of Jeon Hye-jin portrays the life of a working mom, while Jo Min-soo, Jung Jin-young, Jeon Seok-ho, Park Bo-gyeong, and even child actor Kim Sa-rang's performances have garnered focused attention.
‘Riding Life’ will be first available on Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, and ENA on Monday, March 3, at 10 p.m.
