Singer Chaerina mentioned the traumatic knife attack incident that occurred before her marriage to her husband.
On the 24th, during the TV CHOSUN program 'Lovers of Joseon,' singer Chaerina joined her 6-year younger husband, former baseball player Park Yong-keun, and shared various stories related to their marriage.
Chaerina and Park Yong-keun, in an interview with the production team, said, "We have been married for 10 years. We didn't have a wedding ceremony," raising questions.
According to Chaerina, the reason they couldn't have a wedding ceremony was that Park Yong-keun had gone through a major accident. Chaerina said, "Originally, my husband and I were like older sister and younger brother, but after he experienced a big accident, he expressed his feelings. My prayer request was, 'Please save this friend,' and fortunately, he survived," adding, "This bond was formed, but I didn't want it to be noisy. Because there was a victim."
The 'big accident' mentioned by Chaerina refers to the knife attack incident that occurred in a bar in Gangnam, Seoul, in 2012, which resulted in the former wife of Cool member Kim Seong-su dying from excessive bleeding, and Park Yong-keun undergoing a 44% resection of his liver due to serious injuries. Park Yong-keun was in a critical condition but miraculously completed surgery and recovered.
Chaerina said, "The diagnosis I received before the surgery at the hospital was a 99% chance of death." Park Yong-keun noted, "It was a very serious accident, and everyone had a hard time. Not just the two of us, but everyone involved was having a hard time. At first, I had trauma. After the incident, I don't like being in crowded places," and Chaerina added, "If it hadn't been for me, he probably wouldn't have gone to that place. I felt guilt and self-blame. Fortunately, the surgery went well, and when he recovered and was discharged, he confessed his feelings."
In particular, Chaerina said, "Since there are victims who are in pain, we decided to live quietly as if holding our breath. For someone, it's a memory they would prefer not to recall, and I was worried that it might bring it up if we had a wedding."
Chaerina and Park Yong-keun have lived for over 10 years without a wedding ceremony. Chaerina revealed her intention to try in vitro fertilization, which she planned but was halted during a meeting with her mother. In particular, Chaerina and Min-gyeong, along with Diva, attracted attention by trying to book Jamsil Baseball Stadium as their wedding venue.
Meanwhile, TV CHOSUN's 'Lovers of Joseon,' featuring Chaerina and Park Yong-keun, airs every Monday night at 10 p.m.
