Portraying 'Jamie' mom Lee So-dam (35), a mother in the Gangnam district, Lee Soo-ji made her first appearance holding the so-called 'Gangnam mom school uniform' known as MongO padding and luxury bags.
In the video, the über mom, Lee So-dam, lived solely for the education of her 4-year-old daughter, detailing the process of riding (driving children to academy or school). "I don't even have time to eat," she mentioned, eating a single kimbap in the car and being moved after receiving a call from a native-speaking teacher about her child's successful potty training. Her passion was evident as she even arranged a meeting with a master in Cheonghak-dong to have her daughter trained in kicking the traditional Korean top.
There was a consensus that the MongO padding was the item that best represented current mothers in Daechi-dong, and the video, satirizing aspects of Korean society, surpassed 6.7 million views in just two weeks, creating a tremendous impact. Netizens commented, "It feels like I'm seeing typical mothers from the education-focused Gangnam area," "These days, Daechi-dong moms are selling their padding secondhand. It's all on the market now," "It's perfectly accurate documentation," and others.
Coincidentally, last October, actress Han Ga-in was revealed to be driving her children to and from school and academy. At that time, she spent an astounding 14 hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. behind the wheel, stating, "I spend a lot of time in the car."
