The parody of 'Daechi mom' by Lee Su-ji has splashed onto actress Han Ga-in, leading to the private setting of Han's YouTube video.
Recently, Lee posted a video titled "Human fake documentary: I love my child - A peculiar day of 'Jamie' mom Lee So-dam" on her YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee transforms into Lee So-dam (35), a parent called 'Jamie' from the 학원가 (academy district) in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, and parodies the appearance of riding her child to 학원 (academy) wearing luxury paddings and high-end bags, which are referred to as 'Gangnam mom uniforms.'
She also depicted a parent who, after receiving a call from a native teacher and hearing the child has successfully completed potty training, reacted with excessive emotion, and sought a tutor for exam preparation, mentioning, "Squid Game 2 has featured a kick," showcasing the fervent dedication to child education that is commonly seen among parents in the Gangnam area.
As of that day, the video surpassed 6.77 million views, and the luxury padding Lee wore in the video flooded the second-hand transaction platform, leading to a significant drop in popularity.
Some internet users began excessive ridicule and personal attacks on mothers in the Gangnam area. In particular, Han Ga-in, who revealed her child riding to school on her YouTube channel last October, became an unintended target, with negative comments flooding the video stating, "I came after watching Lee Su-ji's video."
The video captures a day in the life of Han Ga-in, who is raising two children. Han starts her full-day ride at 7:30 a.m. by dropping her first daughter off at school and continues until around 9 p.m.
Some internet users left mocking and negative comments, saying Han's appearance resembled that of the Gangnam mothers that Lee Su-ji parodied, and eventually, Han's side made the video private on the 25th.
The parody video that began as a joke is now creating unexpected victims. It's time to refrain from indiscriminate hatred and excessive criticism.
