As comedian Lee Su-ji's "Dae-chee mom" parody video led actress Han Ga-in to face online backlash, Lee avoided responding to the controversy.
On the 25th, Lee said to OSEN regarding the "Dae-chee mom" video controversy, "I ask that you reach out to the company or manager."
Previously, Lee posted a video titled "Human-Fake Documentary: I Love My Child - A Day in the Life of Jamie Mom Lee So-dam" on her YouTube channel. In the video, Lee transforms into Lee So-dam, the mother of the so-called 'Dae-chee mom' from the academy district in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, portraying the daily lives of these mothers.
Appearing in luxury padding and designer bags, known as 'Gangnam mom uniforms,' Lee fervently engaged in her children's education, taking them to their academies. Viewers of the video expressed admiration for Lee's top-tier parody while some left excessive ridicule and personal attacks against Gangnam mothers.
Moreover, the parody video backlash also extended to Han Ga-in. Last October, Han revealed on her YouTube channel "Free-spirited Han Ga-in" a video showing her riding with her children to and from school. Some netizens pointed out that Han's portrayal in the vlog was identical to Lee Su-ji's "Dae-chee mom" parody, leaving comments like "I came after watching Lee Su-ji's video" and mocking her as an "overzealous mom."
Amid this, the "Free-spirited Han Ga-in" channel switched the riding video to private. Consequently, suspicions arose that Lee Su-ji's "Dae-chee mom" parody video was targeting Han Ga-in.
However, when asked about this controversy, Lee merely stated, "Please contact the company" to avoid giving a direct answer. Nevertheless, Lee Su-ji's agency, iHQ, clarified to OSEN, "Since the channel is operated by Lee Su-ji personally, the agency does not get involved. If it were produced within the agency, we could have a say, but we are unaware of what is being filmed, so we have nothing to say."
Meanwhile, Lee has been operating the YouTube channel "Hot Issue Ji" since last month, where she acts out various human characters, delivering socially satirical messages and gaining attention.
