Lee Eun-sol, who changed the paradigm of dating programs through the SBS variety show 'Shindillion Love,' is drawing attention by revealing everything about season 2 ahead of its first broadcast.
Today, returning with the second season on the 25th, SBS's 'Shindillion Love 2' (directed by Lee Eun-sol) is a dating reality program where skilled MZ generation fortune tellers from various fields predict their own and others' destinies while looking for their destined partners. With the enchanting and fascinating new MZ fortune tellers, Shin Dong-yeob, Yoo In-na, Gabi, Yoo Seon-ho, and Park Sung-jun are confirmed to appear as the ultimate MC crew, signaling the comeback of a dopamine haven.
Among them, Lee Eun-sol, who is in charge of directing 'Shindillion Love 2,' draws attention by previewing an upgraded taste of the shindillion love program in an interview. Lee Eun-sol received acclaim for bringing a fresh breeze to dating programs with the unique concept of fortune tellers in the hit first season of 'Shindillion Love,' making anticipation high for the sensational fun that 'Shindillion Love 2' will present.
In particular, 'Shindillion Love 1' proved the high interest of viewers with the number one rating in the 2049 age group and among terrestrial programs from the first episode to the last. Ahead of the first broadcast of season 2, Lee Eun-sol said, "I sincerely thank the viewers who loved 'Shindillion Love' season 1. Since we dealt with a unique subject, we were unsure at the planning stage whether it would be possible to actually produce it, but I didn't expect season 1 to receive such overwhelming love." Then, she continued, "The fact that we were able to start producing season 2 right after season 1 ended was all thanks to the interest and love from the viewers. The entire production team wants to express our gratitude once again."
Lee Eun-sol mentioned the upgraded parts of season 2: "During season 1, we had a six-episode broadcast due to Olympic scheduling, which was regrettable. In season 2, we can present a much more immersive emotional line with 10 episodes." She noted, "Especially due to the increased proportion of fortune tellers compared to season 1, you will see more diverse fortune teller characters. There are many highly skilled individuals who surprised even the production team." Additionally, she shared, "There will be participants from areas like divination, tarot, and fortune-telling, which were not included in season 1, allowing us to present even more mysterious fortune-telling. I believe we can sufficiently meet the expectations of viewers regarding new devices and magical elements."
In particular, fortune tellers Ham Soo-hyun, Lee Hong-jo, and exorcist Park Yi-yul received intense love from viewers during season 1. Accordingly, Lee Eun-sol stated, "As we received a lot of love for the season 1 participants, we put a lot of effort into casting for season 2. You will find attractive participants to the extent that you may think, 'Are there really such beautiful and handsome fortune tellers in South Korea?' This season, the participants are also more proactive and aggressive about love. Many have honest emotions and characteristically charming personalities, so they too will likely receive a lot of love, comparable to season 1."
Meanwhile, 'Shindillion Love' gained attention for its casting process, which involved contacting 1,500 MZ fortune tellers over two months during season 1. In this regard, Lee Eun-sol shared, "For season 2, we met a considerable number of fortune tellers, at a level similar to the previous season. It's almost like we traveled to nearly every shaman center in the country." She continued, "I thought we had met almost all fortune tellers in their 20s and 30s in South Korea during season 1, but since some received divine appointments during the production of season 1, we were fortunate to meet new individuals as well. On actual filming days, I even traveled deep into the mountains at night to scout someone who had recently received a divine appointment. For fortune tellers, persuading them despite their spirits' resistance and their parents' opposition was quite challenging. However, with the experience and know-how gained from season 1, the production team was able to complete the casting successfully for season 2."
There were surely many interesting episodes on set, given the presence of the enchanting and fascinating MZ fortune tellers. Lee Eun-sol noted, "While there aren't many opportunities to interact with the participants on set, whenever there are, it often unintentionally leads to readings. Sometimes they interpret dreams or analyze destiny, while others might read tarot or provide dating advice. It's a unique perk only the 'Shindillion Love' production crew can enjoy (laughs). There are supplies that you could never see in a typical filming set, such as colorful cloths used by fortune tellers to ward off evil spirits or incense used for prayer, which are essential items that cannot be missing from the filming set. Initially, it felt a bit overwhelming, but now everyone on the production team has become accustomed to it."
Furthermore, Lee Eun-sol mentioned, "During season 1, I heard from the participants that the program would do well, and this season, they are also telling me it will be great, so I believe that for now. It feels empowering to hear that from fortune tellers of all people. Season 2 will be supported with the same sentiment by the season 1 participants, so we are working hard to meet their trust."
Finally, Lee Eun-sol said, "'Shindillion Love 2' will throw viewers into shocking situations where they will wonder, 'What kind of fate is this?' Participants will deeply ponder between those chosen by the spirits and those they are drawn to, while some will feel immense conviction and charge ahead when their choices align with the divine selection. Viewers can anticipate varied and deeper love lines, such as what happens when a fortune teller falls in love with another fortune teller and the emotions felt when a non-fortune teller loves a fortune teller." She added that since all participants took it seriously, viewers will feel like they are watching a drama.
