As an official selection of the 29th Busan International Film Festival, the film 'Intrusion' (written and directed by Kim Yeo-jung and Lee Jeong-chan, provided and distributed by Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, produced by Studio Santa Claus Entertainment, co-produced by Blue Fire Studio) has been recognized for its artistic quality and proved to be a hot topic by selling out all tickets as soon as reservations opened.
'Intrusion' started from individual scripts written by directors Kim Yeo-jung and Lee Jeong-chan. While sharing ideas about their respective scripts, the two directors realized that the characters in each work had similarities. The idea of combining the two scripts sparked the beginning of this film.
The two directors aimed to discuss various forms of motherhood and humanity through 'Intrusion'. Ultimately, connections were found between the two scripts, and the story was merged into two parts: Part 1 focuses on mother Yeong-eun and daughter So-hyun, while Part 2 deals with Min and Hae-young, set 20 years later, enriching the narrative. The setting of being intruded upon by someone and having one’s daily life destroyed evokes a strong sense of empathy among viewers, creating intriguing suspense about how the four characters will become entangled.
Thanks to this new attempt, the film provides a complex enjoyment that mixes various genres from mystery to psychological thriller and detective stories, sufficiently immersing the audience. With fresh ideas and the polished direction of the two directors, 'Intrusion' has officially been invited to the 29th Busan International Film Festival and has already received enthusiastic praise from viewers. In addition, 'Intrusion' recorded a high rating of 9.82 when its webtoon was serialized, recognizing its compelling story.
Director Kim Yeo-jung noted, “The characters are placed within the realm of motherhood and are constantly tested in their motherly instincts. The interpretation of whether that motherhood is instinctual or forced can vary from viewer to viewer,” while Director Lee Jeong-chan said, “'Intrusion' is a thriller primarily driven by its female characters and can be viewed interestingly from different perspectives and narrative styles. You can look forward to the fresh chemistry displayed by the unique combination of actors Kwak Sun-young, Kwon Yu-ri, Lee Seol, and Gi So-yu.”
With its fresh and attractive material and strong characters created by new actors, the psychological destruction thriller 'Intrusion' is set to be released in theaters on March 12.
