From the working mom Jeon Hye-jin to the super mom Park Bo-kyung, various Daechi moms are gaining attention.
The Genie TV original drama "Riding Life," which will be released on March 3, depicts the 'worrying' Daechi-dong life of three generations of women, centered on a passionate working mom Jung Eun who entrusts her daughter's '7-year examination' riding to her mom Jia, as they prepare for the entrance test to enter a famous English academy. The drama vividly highlights the early childhood private education scene, drawing attention.
Since the main stage of the drama is a Daechi-dong English academy, "Riding Life" features various parent characters. The portrayal of moms who have jumped headfirst into Daechi-dong either fiercely for their children or inadvertently pushed by someone is expected to resonate and immerse the audience.
The production team revealed stills of the moms' characters in "Riding Life," likely set somewhere in Daechi-dong. The appearances of actors perfectly embodying their characters, including Jeon Hye-jin, Jo Min-soo, Park Bo-kyung, Kim Gwak-kyung-hee, Song Yu-hyun, Ko Woo-ri, and Park Soo-yeon, heighten expectations for the drama.
First, Jung Eun (played by Jeon Hye-jin) and Jia (played by Jo Min-soo) are living the Daechi-dong life as mother and daughter. Working mom Jung Eun is determined to ensure her daughter Seo-yoon walks only on flower paths and fervently pursues education. When the sitter suddenly quits, she asks her mom Jia to take over Seo-yoon's riding. Jia, who unexpectedly enters Daechi-dong, teaches Seo-yoon in her own way, forming a new atmosphere among the moms.
The 'Daechi-dong super mom' Ho-kyung (played by Park Bo-kyung) believes that a child's grades are the measure of life success. Ho-kyung's son Min-ho is well-known as a gifted English student in Daechi-dong and is often referred to by the name 'Tommy.' Ho-kyung reigns in the English academy as 'Tommy's mom,' adding tension to the drama. Jason's mom (played by Song Yu-hyun) is ranked second among the parents and is Ho-kyung's right hand, always rushing to her call. She is obsessed with educating her son Jason, who is not academically inclined. The opportunistic Annie's mom (played by Ko Woo-ri) is ranked third and is always on the lookout to take Ho-kyung's left-hand position.
Mi-chun (played by Kim Gwak-kyung-hee) is a first-year grandmother who has started twilight parenting on behalf of her daughter. While she learns how to survive among the Daechi moms, she meets Jia. She becomes friends with Jia by passing on riding tips. Ji-sook (played by Park Soo-yeon) was a colleague of Jung Eun but has submitted her resignation and become a full-time mom. She understands and supports Jung Eun, who continues to live as a working mom.
The characters of the Daechi moms, who satisfy both individuality and reality, are intriguing. "Riding Life" enhances the sense of realism by filming on location in the actual Daechi-dong academy scene. The production team emphasized that "the synergy and passionate performances of the actors, blending reality in a real and flavorful way, will make viewers laugh and cry, adding to the drama's enjoyment."
