Kim Min-hee embarked on overseas support at full term, but Director Hong Sang-soo added child blessings instead of award blessings.
On the 22nd (local time), during the awards ceremony of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival held in Berlin, Germany, the winners of eight institutional sectors, including the top award, the Golden Bear, were announced. Director Hong Sang-soo's new work 'What Nature Says to You' was in the competition section.
However, there was no award. Director Hong Sang-soo, who won the Silver Bear Jury Prize last year for 'The Traveler's Needs,' did not get an award this year. Instead, 'Dreams' received acclaim as "a work exploring the jealousy felt by a person seized by desire" and won the Golden Bear.
Instead, Director Hong Sang-soo has gained another blessing. His partner of 10 years, actress Kim Min-hee, is currently pregnant. Last month, it was speculated that Kim Min-hee was six months pregnant and due to give birth this spring, and on the 19th, she appeared at the airport to attend the film festival, noticeably in a full-term pregnancy state.
Kim Min-hee even took a flight to Berlin to support Director Hong Sang-soo in her full term. There was much interest in whether the two would appear together at an official event; however, Kim Min-hee did not attend the press conference held locally.
Instead, when questions about the film budget arose, Director Hong Sang-soo mentioned, "I don't calculate the budget separately. The personnel we need to make the film are four, including the assistant, production manager Kim Min-hee, and the boom mic operator," directly referencing Kim Min-hee.
Kim Min-hee also contributed as a production manager for this work. Unfortunately, although they returned empty-handed from the film festival, Director Hong Sang-soo will become a late father at 65. Thanks to Kim Min-hee, he added child blessings instead of award blessings.
