Actress Seo Hyun-rim cried while recalling her late mother-in-law and senior actress Kim Soo-mi.

On the afternoon of 23rd, Seo Hyun-rim appeared as a guest on MBN's entertainment show 'Altoran.' He showcased the dishes shrimp soy sauce braise and eel braise that he learned from Kim Soo-mi, who passed away last year.

Seo Hyun-rim revealed, "I think people will be sad every day, but I didn't have the time or the luxury to be sad for about two months. I had to handle the tasks given to me day by day."

He continued, "After my mother passed away, I received many offers for programs related to my mother. I said I wasn't confident, but the theme was cooking that I wanted to make for my mom. So I thought I should do this."

Having called Kim Soo-mi 'Mom' during her lifetime, he said, "If we had met as mother-in-law and daughter-in-law from the beginning, there would have been some distance and discomfort, but we became acquainted when we met as mother and daughter in a drama. It became a habit to call her 'Mom' for almost a year in the weekend drama, so I was more accustomed to calling her Mom and Dad."

He added, "Whenever we ate rice on set, my mother always brought this amount of side dishes with her barley grilled fish. I kept waiting for Monday's set because I wanted to have that rice. Some people say I got married just to see my mother-in-law."

Through this experience as Kim Soo-mi's daughter-in-law, Seo Hyun-rim learned cooking and the art of flavor. He expressed, "There are so many dishes I discovered after coming to my in-laws. The same dish tastes different when my mother makes it. There are various secrets," and recalled visiting favorite shops in Namdaemun Market with Kim Soo-mi during her lifetime. As he shopped, Seo Hyun-rim was overwhelmed with emotion on the streets of Namdaemun Market, where traces of Kim Soo-mi remained. The owners of his favorite shops also cried, saying they missed her so much.

Seo Hyun-rim's cooking impressed her husband Jung Myung-ho, the son of Kim Soo-mi. Jung Myung-ho commented, "The taste is very similar. Just like there are prodigies in singing and dancing, there seems to be a prodigy in the art of flavor as well. To be honest, I thought I wouldn't be able to taste that flavor, but it's really good," and added, "Since she cooks well, she looks prettier. I think my mom would have loved to taste her cooking."
