The drama '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife,' starring IU and Byun Woo-seok, is under discussion for scheduling next year.

According to OSEN's reporting on the 23rd, MBC drama '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife' (working title, written by Yoo Ah-in, directed by Park Jun-hwa) is discussing scheduling for the first half of next year. Before that, at the end of this year, a review is underway for the scheduling of the drama 'Judge Lee Han-young,' starring Ji Sung.

'21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife' is set against a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in South Korea. It depicts the romance of Seong Hee-joo, a woman who has everything as the daughter of a top-ranked chaebol but is merely a commoner, and Lee Ahn-daegun, the king's son, who has nothing and leads a miserable life. It is a winning entry from the MBC drama script competition, with production handled by MBC and Kakao Entertainment.

Byun Woo-seok will play Lee Ahn-daegun, the male lead in the 21st-century constitutional monarchy in South Korea, while IU will take on the role of Seong Hee-joo, born with a silver spoon, who possesses beauty, intelligence, and a fierce competitive spirit, and is second in the rankings of chaebols. This collaboration is highly anticipated as IU returns with 'Bokssak Soksadda,' and Byun Woo-seok generated a syndrome last year with 'Seonjae Eobgo Tuieo.'

In particular, expectations have been rising since it was announced that director Park Jun-hwa would lead the production as the main director. Park Jun-hwa has established a reputation for stable direction in the romance comedy genre, successfully producing many works, including 'My Name is Kim Sam-soon,' 'Let's Eat,' 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim,' and 'Alchemy of Souls.' Recently, he directed the tvN drama 'Love is a Bridge.'

Meanwhile, the lineup material released by MBC on Jan. 15 included scheduling plans for this year, starting with 'Motel California,' along with 'Undercover High School,' 'Bunny and Brothers,' 'Labor Attorney Namujin,' 'Mary Kills People,' 'Let's Go to the Moon,' and 'The Moon Rises over the River.' At that time, '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife' was absent from the lineup, raising questions.

Subsequently, on the 18th, the lineup for 2025 released by Kakao Entertainment included MBC drama '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife,' leading to hope for seeing IU and Byun Woo-seok's next projects this year; however, scheduling has not been confirmed.

Regarding the scheduling of '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife,' an MBC official said, 'The working title, '21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife,' is preparing to aim for a 2025 broadcast, but scheduling is currently undecided.'
