'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables' Baek Jong-won shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the show.
On the 22nd, in the ENA entertainment program 'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables', the top 3 contenders, Choi Jeong-hyun, Son Woo-seong, and Joo Hyun-wook, were seen advancing before the final competition.
Choi Jeong-hyun, who is weak in cooking but strong in business, said, "The reason I applied here is that I hope my parents will recognize me and regret it," expressing the significance of personal success. He also explained, "Being a chef has been my dream since I was a child. I remember volunteers making meals when I was young, and that all felt good. So, I wanted to be a chef. I want to create a restaurant that makes customers feel good while interacting with them."
Son Woo-seong stated, "I am a 40-something man in South Korea who is in debt of 500 million won due to business failure. I feel very sorry for my family. I regret not being able to provide as much for them after marriage. This feels like my last chance to take on a challenge. I will work hard with the determination of grabbing onto straw, and I will put all my effort into it," noting his sense of responsibility.
Joo Hyun-wook, who has a father with 400 million won in pyramid scheme debt, said, "My father got involved in a pyramid scheme and has been in a state of no revenue for 10 years while accumulating debt through loans, which led to this situation." He also mentioned, "I was a rugby player until my school years but had to quit due to family issues. I wanted to open a jjambbong restaurant after succeeding. I felt alive while meeting customers. I am confident," revealing his aspirations.
These contestants were given the task of setting up a pocha with their own menu on the street of Namwon for three days to generate net profit. 1. Operating my own pocha in Namwon for three days, 2. The challenger with the highest total net profit after three days wins, 3. Calculation method for net profit: total sales, excluding expenses, etc.
Baek Jong-won commented, "The finals location is a bit different from last time. It's close to the business area. You need to manage customer reception, turnover rate, inventory, and profit margin, and check the margins as well. It's going to be really taxing on your mind," adding his insights on the final mission.
Son Woo-seong struggled at first but soon increased the pace of his business. Choi Jeong-hyun actively promoted his store by distributing flyers even before opening, along with his signature talk. Joo Hyun-wook, who won the reservation for the hot spot from the beginning, faced a crisis as the ingredients were depleted and he had to overcome this challenge.
Ultimately, Joo Hyun-wook emerged as the winner. Joo Hyun-wook said, "I only followed Chef Lim Tae-hoon. I am grateful to the chef and the representative for providing this opportunity. I will do my best to live up to the support I received," adding, "I want to become better at cooking, but I constantly worry because I'm not from a hotel background or school. However, I felt hope watching Chef Lim Tae-hoon."
In response, Baek Jong-won said, "What should I do besides winning? We trained as close to reality as possible, but some feel like a shame to lose." He concluded by noting, "I want to show that many of the candidates from Les Misérables are successful."
